If I gave these tyres do o need slime?

After a side wall failure puncture on the rear tyre of a pair of Schwalbe Smart Sam Plus and then the same thing starting to happen with the replacement Smart Sam Plus on the rear I changed to Specialized Crossroads Armadillo 650B 27.6” Wired Clincher Tyres in 1.9” width. I have covered 5962...

    Going faster?

I am probably fit enough to still ride a non assisted mountain bike, and still do, but quite occasionally at the moment. I initially got a hub drive road bike (Oxygen emate) to ride the 20 mile return trip to work, and for me it was the ability of an electric bike to carry two loaded panniers...

The battery on my March 2015 Haibike is still working well and will be 5 years old in March 2020. However it is a lot of money to replace, so it is a good thing it has lasted well. A replacement 400Wh Yamaha Battery costs around £650 from the shop I bought my bike from. The bike has covered...

Luckily at work I have an inside space to leave the bike, and do not need to carry my heavy Kryptonite U lock, and even that would be easily enough overcome by an battery angle grinder, but cable locks can just be snipped with a hand tool. On all my shopping/errand rides I use the u lock...

    Accessories

I commute to work and back, sometimes on a rear hub road bike with wired in lights and sometimes on a crank drive hard tail Haibike that has no wired in lights. Like Andy-Mat I like to have two rear lights. On the bike with wired in lights, that's the wired in light and a very bright seat post...

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

I rode to work today on a cold -1, but sunny start to the day. I rode 30 miles by the time I got home after including a visit to Town for a spot of shopping on the ride home.

Help! How do they enforce legal max power?

As anotherkiwi has said it would be possible for the police to check speed. However that in itself does not reveal whether the speed recorded is being achieved legally or otherwise. I live on top of a hill with the town centre in the valley below and travel close to 30mph down these hills...

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

River Wey including failed weir and over bridge I have been riding to the Royal Surrey Hospital one day a week for some time now and tend to ride on the road there and then along the River Wey back to Godalming. The ride home on the tow path of the river Wey navigation / canal is a good way...

UK Law in regards to ebikes.

That is a good little article Wicky. I have been using a worn out 1979 Honda 250 for quite a while now. It was propped outside a lawn mower shop and I bought it as a non runner (I have yet to find a Honda that was truly a non runner) to accompany a friend who wanted to do the Beamish Trophy...

    Kryptonite Good Service

I bought this kryptonite U lock in 2010. Recently the key fractured leaving about half its length in the lock. I have placed the broken key next to a good one so that you can see the portion that broke off. A friendly locksmith managed to remove the part that had broken off in the lock. I...

Haibike Yamaha - battery replacement options

It is between my trips to work that I leave it at 55/60%. I am a shift worker so put my battery on charge as I go to bed for an early shift, or for a late shift try to remember to charge it an hour or two before I set off. I can charge the battery back to full at work and Have to start the...

Haibike Yamaha - battery replacement options

Hi Doomo, I only charge my battery back to full, as close to my departure time for work as possible. When I get home it has about 55/60% of its capacity left and I store it in the house, only charging back to full again as close to my departure time for my next trip to work. I think that...

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

anotherkiwi living the poem. Do not go gentle into that good night, Old age should burn and rave at close of day; Rage, rage against the dying of the light. Though wise men at their end know dark is right, Because their words had forked no lightning they Do not go gentle into that good night...

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

That is an interesting case Artstu, it would be interesting to see the outcome. I think what all these court cases are showing is that whatever bike you are riding you need to proceed very cautiously in high risk collision areas like Towns and Cities and crossing points.

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

I was responding in I hope a light hearted way to your comment asking why 20mph would make it any more acceptable. 20 mph on a legal ebike would be perfectly acceptable. I have not read the page or so leading up to your comment so may have misunderstood!

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

I know it is spurious to speculate, and in all likelihood it is an illegal bike, However with only the smallest of gradients in my favour pedaling my own crank drive Haibike with the assistance from the motor turned off it can easily reach 20mph and beyond. Downhill with the extra weight I see...

    Commuting with a badass dongle..??

I know the Yamaha charger is a bit of a lump, but I take mine with me and charge the battery back to full before the ride home. That way my own 10 mile ride home uses about 40% of my full 400Wh battery and I take it in the house and leave it alone until I next use it, this gap could be several...

    Commuting with a badass dongle..??

I top my battery up at work and keep it inside in the warm. Speed seems not to effect the motor, however ingress of water will. You are probably like a new boy with a new toy at the moment and enjoying high levels of assist. But you might find once you have got that out of your system you can...
