Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

And with that in mind flec, and I think you are right that the proportion of illegal bikes could easily be higher than legal bikes, there have actually been very few serious accidents. As anotherkiwi alluded to, a bit like shark attacks, it might loom large in the public imagination while it is...

Riding illegal bikes can lead to being charged with driving offences.

From the footage you cannot see what aspect the pedestrian crossing lights were showing. However the cyclist that hit the lady goes through the crossing at almost the same time as a car going in the opposite direction passes through the crossing implying circumstantially that they were at...

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

Hi flecc, I was writing my comment in reply to VFR400 when you posted yours and just posted mine without looking at yours, but they support each other very well!!

    What's happening at 50 Cycles?

I have to agree. The duff motor probably hastened their demise but there was more wrong with their business plan than that and for me it was the lack of any real customer care that put me off. I bought my first electric bike from their Richmond store, a 2011 Oxygen Emate City that I still...

    Commuting with a badass dongle..??

My bike is a 2015 Haibike Yamaha hardtail mountain bike which has had a rear rack and mudguards fitted. I bought it to travel mostly cross country to work 12 to 14 miles depending on what route I take and then back home 10 miles on the road. Going to work cross country I am not trying to go...

    Commuting with a badass dongle..??

There was some discussion in this thread from a while ago. A regular commute allows you to learn all your gradients too and from work very well. This in turn allows you to learn what assist level to use to get the best combination of speed and battery consumption. There are of course many...

    New bike

I have both a German/Yamaha derived crank drive Haibike ebike and a Chinese derived rear hub Oxygen and have found both to be very good. I love the Chinese derived rear hub Oxygen and use it for loads of shopping and other general errands as well as the odd 20 mile return trip to work on the...

    Question on Battery Life

I did my normal cross country ride to work and road ride home. Just shy of a four week gap since the bike was last used. My 400Wh Yamaha battery is now over four and a half years old and had sat in the house since it was last used at around 55% charge. I was in two minds about going in the...

    Question on Battery Life

I have a 2015 Haibike with a Yamaha system and 400Wh battery that I have been using to commute to work and back and have been very impressed with the continued excellent performance of the battery with very little sign of it losing capacity although it must be. Only this year has my use of the...

    First bicycle road accident tonight.

I understand what you are saying ebiker 99, but all I can say is that my own car insurance policy was unaffected. I think if I was making a no fault claim in respect of a car accident I am sure you are right, but as bicycles do not need to be insured the personal injury claim I made did not...

    First bicycle road accident tonight.

I am sorry to hear about your accident, and glad that you are OK. I had a similar thing happen some years ago where a car coming the opposite way turned right without noticing me and I had no where to go but the side of his shiny Audi car and then the lovely soft gravely tarmac. It was summer...

    Disregarding UK pedelec laws

Same result at 15mph me thinks. Actually hitting a small diameter pothole at speed is safer than at a slower speed as it gives you the chance to bridge the gap with your front wheel, however best of all is for the council to fill them in and to avoid them if you can.

    Funny Noises or not

My Yamaha PU with large chain ring went through a phase of making a similar described noise that needed me to nip up the chain ring bolts to make it disappear .

I want to buy my first eBike but I am overwhelmed by so many choices. I don't know where to pay attention.

I have never owned a seago but was impressed by what another pedelec member Kangaroo said, and of course the price! https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/folding-e-bikes-in-hilly-cities-edinburgh-in-particular-re-post.27257/#post-366041

Other pedelec members have sung the praises of this cheaper folding bike https://www.piratescave.co.uk/dinghies-outdoor/bikes-watersports/electric-folding-bikes/seago-electric-folding-bikes/
