    Site search

Sorry to be so negative but this forum software has probably one of the worst search functions I have ever come across! Almost as bad as some of the worst versions of the PHPBB search function and that is saying a lot. I used to work for a lady who developed an in house CMS and who rewrote parts...

    A new cargo bike

http://www.carqon.com/ Only a 3D image for the moment but to be distributed by Babboe I love the steampunk headlight in the door! A question for our legal experts - there is a seat, what is the law on carrying a passenger? I know that children get carried in cargo bikes but have never seen...

    Bike spotting

This topic is about interesting or unusual pedelecs (legal) that people may have spotted in the wild. This year my town, which has a season population of over 100,000 at peak times, has been a great place for pedelec spotting: My first rare bike spotting was the Tern folder with Bafang BBS01...

    Holy flaming Tesla Batman!

Yesterday a Tesla S90 self ignited and burned to a crisp just up the road in Anglet during a test drive. Loud popping noise, white smoke then lots of flames. No one injured, test driver his girlfriend and a Tesla "hostess" on board.

    Building the wireless bike

So we had a few month back the promise of a bluetooth controller which to date is still not to be found in Europe. @mechaniker an update? We already have this http://www.topeak.com/products/PanoBikeAndRideCase/speed_cadence_sensor , a bluetooth speed and cadence sensor which is just asking to...

    Haibike square taper crank arms

I am looking for a pair of square taper crank arms either 170 or 165. I see Haibike make those for the Yamaha motor and they are available in the UK "for our clients only" as OEM spares. Any other source for these, in Germany maybe? SW?

    I love Sheldon Brown...

Metaphorically speaking of course! I found this gem when looking for gearing options: Some Shimano flat steel sprockets and spacers are in bolted or riveted assemblies, indicated by tooth counts in italics in the table below. The bolts or rivets only serve to keep sprockets and spacers in...

Tesla co-founder says hydrogen fuel cells are a ‘scam’

http://electrek.co/2016/05/23/tesla-founder-marc-tarpenning-hydrogen-fuel-cells-scam/ I agree with this. And the same goes for rapeseed oil replacing diesel when it is planted, harvested and transported by diesel fuelled vehicles to far off manufacturing plants powered by non renewable...

Torque arm or not torque arm?

Aluminium frame with 7 mm thick drop-outs, rear 250 W hub - 705 W peak with battery hot off the charger. I am tempted to go without a torque arm because the material is thick all around the drop-out. Opinions?

    Statistics and "the news"

While watching the news on Spanish TV Friday mention was made of the doubling of cycling deaths in Spain over the last few years. And it was added "not enough cyclists are wearing helmets"... "Yeah right!" was my immediate thought and: - how many who died were wearing helmets? - what kind of...

    Off topic battery

After 3 years use almost every day and charged almost every day too the battery of my nexus 7 seems to be on its last legs... Lets say 1000 charge/discharge cycles. I don't want to run out and get a new tablet because they don't make them like this, or if they do it is going to be twice the...

    New BB 2 speed drive

http://kappstein.de/en/products/doppio/?___store=en Just saw this in bike.eu newsletter. This would complement a hub motor with 7 speed cassette/freewheel very nicely.
