Back to track, complete brompton maintenance

Just spray it with your WD40 then use a small wire brush to clean it up. Afterwards just spray it with GT85 or some other type of spray lubricant. WD40 is not really a lubricant though it will lubricate it for a bit. WD 40 is really to clean off the muck and grease and is a water disperser...

Back to track, complete brompton maintenance

Hard to tell really. They could certainly do with cleaning up and lubricating though! You will soon know if they are worn however as when you put on a new chain they will jump when the new chain goes over them. I guess you clean up the old chain and that way you know it would continue to work...

Back to track, complete brompton maintenance

Buy a new chain its not worth the hassle cleaning the old one though you have probably spent the cost of a new chain in cleaning stuff already . The only problem is if the chain is badly worn then you mind find the rear sprocket and main crank teeth are also worn and will need replacing if you...

I tried it on my Android phone but the display is too small and trying to navigate is a nightmare using a normal browser. I am too cheap to buy Tapatalk :p Jerry

Nice to see you posting again cwah. Glad you have settled in France. Your posts always make me sit up and take notice and this one is no exception. Sorry about the damage I think it was lucky that there was no resulting fire though! If I recall you purchased your battery pack form Ping ? If...

    K.I.S.S ~ i.e * no batteries required * an intro to

Funny thread lol I wonder if this is an ex member of the forum ? Anyway here is my input. Back in the day when I use to read the bible (now I just read the pedelec and my other favourite forums) I recall a few verses in the bible namely Matthew 17, versus 17 through 20 "Matthew 17.20 – And...

How long should my chainwheel last?

My understanding and experience is that if you change your chain before it wears then you shouldn't need to change your chain ring(s). I have yet to wear out a chain ring or a sprocket on my 3 speed Brompton that has done over 6000 miles. I have changed the chain about four times. I have just...

    Bristol eBike Fest

Very funny post. At first I thought you were dead serious. Started with the bikes and I thought great I am going to see some nice new ebikes then I heard the drums and like you soon got pleasantly distracted. Though aren't there laws against shooting those kind of videos (joke) Jerry

    Battery Balancing question

As I understand it what is important is the state of charge of each cell. Voltages of each cell can be pretty close but the state of charge or how much capacity is in each one can vary wildly. I always break my packs down into two blocks of 5sXp or 6sXp so I can then use an RC charger to bring...

Two years inside for supplying non UN38.3 batteries

I must admit now I have read this I do recall the 100Wh limit. I am sure we are all breaking the law daily in some area of out lives. The trick of course it to not break the law too often, in too larger way and most importantly to not get caught! Regards Jerry

Two years inside for supplying non UN38.3 batteries

For larger models including helicopters 6s, 6ah would be normal. Many ebikers series link these together as well. If i am correct then a 6*4.2*6 = 151.2Wh would fall within the regs. Jerry

Two years inside for supplying non UN38.3 batteries

David, Interesting. This would of course also have a huge impact on the model RC industry as well. I assume Lithium Polymer (far more unstable than Li-ion) are covered as well ? Again readily available on ebay from overseas. Jerry

Tongxin/Keyde Motors For Brompton/Dahon for sale

I may still have another Keyde front hub motor available which is currently built into a 20" wheel and tested (about 100 miles on it). This and either a brand new stock controller/pedelec or a bespoke programmed controller, thumb throttle and ebrake for about £225. Regards Jerry

    Xxx spray protection xxx

Interesting Dave I tend to use brass washers in my small wheel radial builds on alternate flange holes where they are deeply counter sunk to take account of the spoke head. Time will tell I guess. From what I have read you are more likely to see galvanic corrosion between the stainless steel...

    Xxx spray protection xxx

I assume you mean at the spoke head ? I am surprised there is rust between the motor flange holes and the spoke head (spoke nipples are the bits that attach to the other end of the spoke thread where it enters the wheel rim) given the motor casing is probably aluminum and the spokes are...
