Tongxin/Keyde Motors For Brompton/Dahon for sale

Ok I have ended up with too many spare motors (nice problem to have) and thought maybe I would sell a couple on to members on the forum. I have two of these narrow (80mm wide) motors 36v, 260RPM both 36H. These are easier to fit to narrower forks found on these folders with minimum spreading...

    My Second Brompton E-Conversion

I purchased a Lyen controller initially incl the usb lead for the computer. Now I that I have that I buy the much cheaper E-Crazyman ones the just connect the lead temporarily on the board pins to program it. Remember to specify sensorless model if you buy the ecrazyman one as they come...

    My Second Brompton E-Conversion

In that case for simplicity I would def recommend a lyen controller as that has a lead wired in so you could just reprogram it (change the current) setting every time you swap the motor. Remember though that the Keyde motor is sensorless, not sure if the SWXB is a sensor based motor ? If...

    My Second Brompton E-Conversion

Yes as Dave highlights even with programmable controllers you will need to measure the current as they tend to run a little higher than what you set them to current wise. I initially purchased a lyen controller as it came with a programmable usb lead but now I have that I tend to buy these from...

    My Second Brompton E-Conversion

Possibly, but I would just get a new programmable controller or shave the shunt down as suggested. Jerry

    Cheap Brompton Conversion Kit?

Interesting ideas. I think I would still put the controller in one of the back C bag pockets though I guess that depends on how many connections you have to it. Mine are simple motor, throttle and brake cut out. Regards Jerry

    My Second Brompton E-Conversion

15 amps is too much. You can use the controller providing you can limit it to around 8 amps. Jerry

    My Second Brompton E-Conversion

Its been linked loads of times in these various threads http://www.keyde.com/?do=product&lang=en&event=view&ids=07 Its a special one off narrow 80mm wide one for folding/small wheeled bikes. Does not come with the controller build in so you will need to buy a lyen/ecrazyman controller and...

    My Second Brompton E-Conversion

Great job and to see more of us moving from the original Tongxin to the smaller Goldant. I have my controller set to about 7 amps max and still get a little slipping. I am wondering if I have a fault with the throttle ? I have delay current at startup set to five seconds now! I hate the Sun...

New Super Light Tongxin Motor Design/Kit

I have now tested these motors (the narrow ones without the built in controller) for a few months on both my lightweight Brompton and my Dahon Uno. Both bikes are below 11.5kg carry weight with of course all the electrics and batteries in their respective front mounted bags. Initially I used...

New Super Light Tongxin Motor Design/Kit

Interesting to see one open. Thanks for posting the pics. Given the small amount of current these things draw I doubt over heating will be a problem. Jerry

New Super Light Tongxin Motor Design/Kit

Using the stock controller with a 349, 16" rim I find it assists up to 17mph. However as I wanted throttle and am using a lyen/ecrazyman controller, this only take me up to about 14mph assisted. Jerry

    Cheap Brompton Conversion Kit?

This is how I spread my titanium forks :o Obviously no good for painted steel forks as it would damage the finish. The most time consuming part was filing out the Ti dropouts! Jerry

New Super Light Tongxin Motor Design/Kit

You will probably find it pushes out too much current if it is set for the original Nano. I found I had to reduce the current right down and set the delay on current startup a lot to prevent the clutch slipping. I guess it will be ok providing you can re programme the KU63 ? Jerry

New Super Light Tongxin Motor Design/Kit

Should be able to get a 32 hole rim ok. Just thought you want a smaller rim don't you which may be harder to source :( The font motor only has three pins as it is sensorless. Those connectors are common now so you should be able to get one easily. Someone on the forum will probably have one...

    Another Brompton conversion kit

Ah interesting www.electricwheel.co.uk now takes you to a new site nano electric bikes. This company certainly has had its ups and downs. PS the Falco is not listed there though there is a new Nano 2.0. Jerry
