Well Boris is proud of his Russian blood line. .

I'd have hoped sooner too, and as you know, I think there never needed to be a war. But being realistic Russia will try for Odessa now they've got this far and using the bombardment and starving out tactics on Mykolaiv and Odessa will take at least the 6 weeks to the end of April, probably...

Between end of April and end of May latest, maybe cease fire before. It will end in one of two ways, either a cease fire with each settling for enough to satisfy them for the present, or less likely Russia installing a puppet government controlling a major part of Ukraine. Ukraine can't win...

Lviv to Calais, 1788 km. I'd hope this war will stopped one way or another before they get that far. .

Europe's leading car-parts maker Bosch is halting production at its Russian factories. Blaming supply chain issues and disrupted deliveries, the German giant admitted it may have to end its operations in the country for good. But the pullout comes amid claims by Ukraine that it discovered "one...

Hardly surprising and probably deliberate, since it neatly fits their propaganda that they are friends of Ukraine, rescuing the Ukrainians from Western sourced Nazi infiltration with a "special operation"! .

The investigation of his case exposed so many instances of his appalling behaviour over time in the force, including sexual, that I doubt any appeal could be successful, or that further charges were necessary. I think these further six charges are probably the Met mistakenly trying to look...

Speaking of chickens hovering instead of coming home to roost, I wonder what has happen to Sue Gray's report into Boris Johnson's "partygate"? And indeed the Metropolitan Police investigation into it. It seems they are too busy catching those they've already caught, since they are now...

So Kwasi Kwarteng is also lying in saying P & O are now being investigated to see if they'd broken the law by failing to notify. It seems they just can't help themselves. .

No it's not: Mitigate, verb, make (something bad) less severe, serious, or painful. Configuring windows privacy settings does just that, reducing while not totally curing. A bit like Covid vaccines! ;) .

I agree, I doubt China will want to get involved in the direct military action in any way, mainly supporting Russia economically. However I think the sanctions are heading for failure as they've always done before, so eventually there may have to be direct Western confrontation with Russia...

After the initial service pack(s) to deal with the design problems of premature launches, I've always turned off Windows updates on all versions. That avoids any subsequent Microsoft malware and the many other updating problems that others have experienced. .

In view of the utterly callous way in which the P & O board instantaneously sacked its shipping staff by video, perhaps we should reflect that behaviour by referring to P & O in future as meaning Putin & Oligarchs. .

This afternoon Soyuz MS21 mission will launch to dock with the ISS, carrying for the first time an all Russian three man crew. In the lead a veteran of the station who has spent altogether over a year in space, the other two first time cosmonauts. This was planned late last year long before...

No multiple computers here, I've only ever maintained a second computer as a backup in case of failure of my desktop when I need to be online for essentials like banking. For years that backup was an ancient Dell XPS, a huge beast of a laptop that I'd got second hand cheaply. With an over 18"...

Ditto, I'll never adopt W10 or W11. I only have SSDs for everything though, system, storage and even for backup where I use three drives for triple security of data and system backup. One is an SSD, the primary backup; a second is a large Kingston flash drive and the third a WD hard drive...

Stupid Question. UK Law. Would two 250w motors fitted be classed as 500w?

See the SRAM above Neal. Nowhere in the type approval or pedelec law specifies only two motors, only references to "the motor". Also almost all hub motors are incomplete since they cannot run without a controller. With the two in different positions on most e-bikes, clearly "the motor" can be...

Stupid Question. UK Law. Would two 250w motors fitted be classed as 500w?

Unlikely for two reasons. An upgrade for cargo bikes etc already went through 6th April 2015 when all e-bike weight limits were removed. The second reason is that there is already a class for bicycle based 15.5 mph, allowing 1000 watts. That's a class called L1e-A, but here in Britain they...

Stupid Question. UK Law. Would two 250w motors fitted be classed as 500w?

Bear in mind that a true 250 watts limit would be almost useless. In practice most pedelec motors can supply 400 to as much as 600 watts of power for shorter periods. Where you could be likely to hit legal trouble is if you use two motors each marked as being 250 watts. The police have no way...

Stupid Question. UK Law. Would two 250w motors fitted be classed as 500w?

That will be legal, since the relevant EN15194 technical standard has one of the tests for power being a timed acceleration under controlled conditions, no mention of direct measurement of the motor. .
