    New controller set up

Does the OP NEED a New Controller?? The 'headset' in the first pic looks to be a KT-LED-890, and if so and the OP's controller is a KT brand, then in order to access the configurable options of the controller you will want to plug in one of the 3 button lcd headset options...

Do police even bother to check if an e-bike is legal?

@sjpt thanks for the clarity, i only commented casually not intending to profess any expertise or special insight into the law.. I recently watched the utube linked somewhere in here iirc from 'Blackbelt Barrister' on cyclists and speeding.. That is the sum total of my pre comment in depth...

Do police even bother to check if an e-bike is legal?

Well the chap running one of the friendliest bike shops i have visited is ridding about with a 1500w hub motor in his front wheel. and it looks as big as its rated.. His opinion is that as there are few youngsters taking the p^ss and causing trouble for the local plod so 'we' are not on their...

Can any ebike controller be configured to run headless.

Thanks @saneagle for the power wire tip, no doubt i will let some magic smoke escape as i explore this.. But it sure sounds like the simple solution i was hoping for. My vast hands on experience with ebikes totals a whole 3 of em ;) 2 of which arrived to me with damaged headsets hence my bias...

Can any ebike controller be configured to run headless.

Controller headsets appear to be the weak link in many setups suffering damage from knocks and scrapes and dying as soon as any rain seeps inside. So are they really necessary all the time? How do the controller and headset work together, is the headset a dumb terminal when configuring the...

    Clip Anyone?

I do like the apparent ease of the snap on snap off, of the device. That alone makes it attractive to anyone who leaves their bike locked up in public for any length of time. Is the control wireless?? looked like a controller was clipped onto the handle bar before the device was fitted to...

    Santroll control box

It took me a while to catch on.. ebike controllers come with 2 flavours of connectors, the 'Higo' or more standard wire connectors, like in the pic @saneagle posted above or the 'waterproof' Julet plug and socket connectors. and its a real pita trying to wire a Higo terminated sensor into a...

    Brake Pad Tool Advice please

3d printing services both local and international are available, tinkercad aimed at kids is much less daunting than pro tools. I wanted to fit some 'smart' light switches but have shallow switch boxes. rather than buy multiple 5mm spacers to extend the switchplate outwards i followed a couple...

    yesterday i had 1 ebike now i have 4!

Foul weather, and i arrived home damp, the drizzle died diwn a bit so i took a few snaps but stopped at any further disassembly.. Im not a photographer.. the brake sensor cable wear. I could fix with a dollop of epoxy or hot glue but £12 buys new lever/sensors.. Slots in the top of the...

    yesterday i had 1 ebike now i have 4!

Cheers @guerney, Its crazy if the date on the motor indicates the bikes age, its just over 1 yr old. And while the chain was rust colored it was not at all seized and was free moving, every link articulated. its rusted from the inside out!! But as this is 'now' an unrestricted bike with a...

look for lights that explicitly state they are for ebikes and can handle a hi voltage range 24-52v ebay will sell sets for about £20 including a horn and rear light/indicators.. the front light alone circa £7 searching for 'e bike lights' should get you there..

    Which ebike to choose?!

Well it came as a HUGE surprise to me when i first turned off the nice smooth cycle track onto the local roads at circa 15mph (totally unpopulated track n road Vast visibility too thankfully) Under ebike power, with my full mass sat firmly and comfortably in the saddle, my legs adding little...

    Which ebike to choose?!

15mph on slightly bumpy uneven roads can be SCARY on a rigid bike with no suspension. and having to moderate your speed to 8-10mph or take an active stance on your bike just to potter along local side streets will make you want suspension let me tell ya ;)

@saneagle - side track my thread eh ? ok.. the problem is considering exercise as anything more than what it really is, a side effect of doing something. now if you elect to do pointless things to receive the benefits of the side effect, fine, just don't expect many rational (heavy) folk to...
