    The new best headlight

Funny that you should mention this as I was only yesterday looking at the lens on the Fenix to see if I could replicate the lens diffuser across to the new light. It might just be a case of using something as simple as a section of the stick on headlamp convertor for a car headlight lens. Fenix...

First hand experiences of ebikes in subzero temperatures?

That kind of reminds of the countless winter night rides that I have had, where things start off fine, then almost before you know it what was wet sloppy mud, has suddenly become frozen solid to the frame and drive train components, so making gear selection impossible. Role on winter! :(

Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

And just to bore you even further, the last ride photos. The final one shows some of the mega climb route up to Birg. It is the lower station from this photo. I'm aiming to get to the second and highest possible station next year, which is at least another hour or so further on...

Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

Happy days, my lost camera has turned up. :) Obviously I would rather not have lost it, but as the flash doesn't work, and it has other issues, I wasn't overly bothered about it going missing. What did bother me was loosing the last two days of holiday shots, or more specifically these ones...

    The new best headlight

Sorry d8veh for derailing the thread even further than it already is. LP if nothing else, this forum introduced me to a superbly informative book. Electric Bicycles by David Henshaw and Richard Pearce. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Electric-Bicycles-David-Henshaw/dp/1901464245 ISBN...

New Juicy Sports Torque Bike Prototype

Two aspects that show a need for better attention to detail that can instantly be picked up upon. Possible tightness of cable run, and poor wiring.

    This mornings Sunday Times

I don't think that Soundwave has a bad bone in his body, but he is probably one of the most irresponsible riders out there, ebike or no ebike. You only have look at his comments, and clips highlighting recklessly riding along public canal towpaths, public bridleways, public pavements outside...

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

Back to wet rides in very fine and abrasive conditions. I also decided that I would give Sports Tracker another shot. 50.9mph, yeh right! I wonder where it got that measurement from, as my recollection and that of the SJ4000, was 31mph.

    kTM enquiry

I certainly have no regrets buying mine. The build quality is superb, and both bikes that I own, full suspension and hardtail, get used throughout the whole year in some pretty torturous conditions, and other than regular maintenance, have required nothing. The only changes that I have made...

    The new best headlight

The ring isn't actually that bright, and is not really noticeable. It is just the light sensor on the camera picking it up. As for the cells lasting six hours, I have no idea and don't really care. Three hours or so of riding at night three or four times a week, what ever the weather holds, is...

    The new best headlight

LP, that goes to show how we are all different, as I'm not a fan of the green ring etc. :) If that is directed at me, the light as purchased did not come with a battery pack so I used my existing six cell pack which is now heading into it's third year of use, and given that I ride roughly...

    The new best headlight

Hi Dave, it seemed fairer to post the following in your thread rather than this one started by LP. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/look-what-the-postman-brought.25329/page-5#post-326953 When it comes to riding bikes there are three things that I really enjoy.. Riding in the rain, riding...

    Look what the postman brought..

To be fair that did cross my mind. :) Just from my own attempts to capture either photos or film of lights, I never really get a true feeling or representation. I have brought the light on it's own as a back up to the Fenix, and indeed being more compact than the old style of single Cree...

    Look what the postman brought..

Sadly that clip shows exactly what I don't like about the cheap Cree lights. I really hate the spot beam. :( I find that an even spread of beam across a wider area, is both more beneficial, and safer for off road use. A spot beam does nothing to aid all important peripheral vision, and can even...

    Look what the postman brought..

Phill, It depends upon how you look at it, and I truly don't mean any offence by dismissing the choice of light that others use. It all comes down to personal choice.:) I personally think that a quality light is an investment worth making. As said previously, I ride about two thousand miles a...

    Look what the postman brought..

Fair point, and in many cases that is probably the way to go. :) I'm quite happy as things are though. :) Phill, just a word of caution. You could risk loosing the warranty on the two bikes if you do opt for a non factory supplied hard wired system, so check that aspect of things carefully first.

Tubeless mountain bike set up on the cheap

Exactly, there is no point. You still need to buy two tubes, so why not just buy the correct rim tape and valves in the first place. The saving of a few pounds on what is a compromise and bodge job, just isn't worth it.

    Look what the postman brought..

On that basis, why after having spent in the region of 5k on bikes are you dicking around trying to cobble together a light, when for about £60.00+ you can have something decent? Think about it, SW has spent near on that amount, and still won't have a light that compares to say the BT20. Just...

Giant Road e+1 Hill Climbing and Noise test

Which raises the question of why do you bother with a dongle at all. You can't tell me that your mates ride everywhere above 15.5mph all the time when off road, and looking at your mates Strava stats they clearly don't, as overall, he only averages about 8mph, so saying that you don't want to...
