    Comparing lights

I owe you an apology for my completely ignorant and terse reply, so sorry about that. You actually got me thinking and I know how I can get this to work. :) On the screen shot below just off centre is an old cricket pitch that is no longer used and has become very over grown and secluded. It...

    Comparing lights

Only that it is an ill conceived idea, which unless shot in a controlled environment indoors, is impossible to implement. You haven't taken into account location in relation to light pollution, weather conditions, light level V time of evening, or time of month/year in relation to level of...

Ongoing reliability of Kalkhoff/Focus Impulse 2 motors

I love how without a shred of evidence produced, that you all jump to the conclusion that it was 50C that sent the email, or even that there was one.

Yet more amazing scenery. Perfect. :) Not at all envious! :(

    Mid drive

Not for me. :) I prefer to stay legal, and the pull for me, is the off road usability which I consider to be more of a complete and useable package when compared to that of hub drive. This was actually something that I gave great consideration to during the recent Swiss Alps trip, and came to...

Nealh, it will be interesting to find out how you get on with the tyre choice. :) I can't currently ever see me switching away from Hutchinson tyres, and the trick is to buy them when discounted. Not an easy thing to do, and I'm always looking. What I hate is riding on tarmac with them, as you...

    Juice Lubes praise

That's really good to hear. It was me that recommended Juice Lubes. :) I'm not so keen on the frame juice/polish though, and still pick up Fork Juice in preference when cleaning the frame.

Nealh I was very surprised to see several beech trees blocking my path on the local ride that I did last week. I'm guessing that the weather must have been bad whilst I was away? I was going to head out this evening and start to re route and clear the sections, but I'm just too knackered at the...

    Newbie...KTM macina tour 10 P5 2016...views?

The BM dynamo light as supplied is actually very good. I spent last winter riding around dark country lanes and an old railway line now cycle path, on my wife's Macina Fun 10-400 without feeling that I needed more from the lights. They also run on for a period after stopping, so ideal for start...

    The new best headlight

How many minutes of run time are you expecting to get from four 18650 batteries powering a 10 Cree 18000Lm torch? I can tell you that it won't be many. You are already up to nearly £55.00 on just the components that you have linked to, without assembling things, so why not just buy a decent...

    The new best headlight

Steve, annoyingly I couldn't add any more clips to my above reply as the limit was reached, but putting the quality of the Fenix BT20 into some kind of perspective as a main use light, here are two clips of the same short section of bridleway, ridden both in the daytime and at night time. As you...

    The new best headlight

Good find D8ve. Steve, d8veh has mentioned some very key aspects of buying a light that I would agree with. Brightness certainly doesn't mean best, and spread of beam is more important than spot. Cost also doesn't mean best. For off road use, I personally don't like the spot beam of the Ebay...

Got my Freego Hawk yesterday but.........

A well heeled Haibike rider would use a George Daniels, held in place with colour coded cable ties. The rest would just use a scratched Casio digital watch, held in place with double sided tape, as the cable ties would still be required to hold the bike together. Either way, the watch would...

Got my Freego Hawk yesterday but.........

The most obvious give away would be the lack of a 3k suit.

I figured that as the collar bone and shoulder felt okay, that I would chance an after work ride on the South Downs. It was certainly one very windy ride and on one particular lengthy down hill section that usually sees 30+ mph, I struggled to pedal and maintain 12mph! Then the heavens opened...

    A nice ride today

You can take an alternative look at it here. :) http://doarama.com/view/906954 clicking the arrow key in the top left switches between gradient, elevation, speed and distance. The stop points are from either taking photos or talking to hikers. The ride proper, starts at the 1:40 point, and...

2016 Giant Road e+1 display in KPH not MPH

The BH Neo Xtrem only had kph, so I guess that the rest of the BH range was the same. I can't say that it ever bothered me, but then again the bike had bigger issues to be concerned about.
