Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

One of my mates has done the event three times and I reckon that he certainly has a screw loose! Riding with him on the odd occasion that I have, is a scary experience. I hate following him, and he just doesn't for anything. Another couple of shots from the other day. Sadly no riding...

    A nice ride today

You aren't wrong. 10.4 miles of continuous climbing, with 6,427ft of elevation gain. Then the same in reverse coming back down. It doesn't get much better than that on a lovely hot sunny day. :) If only I could do this every day...

Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

I nearly quit several times, but was encouraged on by hikers, and even got a round of applause when I reached the cable car station. I actually wasn't even convinced that I could ride back down again, but got back down the mountain in good time, and it wasn't until I reached the concrete strip...

Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

Oh dear, out of my depth sprang to mind today! My riding skill was really put to the test today. Today was without doubt the hardest ride of my life, both in terms of climbing and descending. I decided to tackle the ride in the clip above with the girl in. It isn't a cycle route, and I had to...

Brilliant choice of bike, but remember that fitting a dongle will screw up and invalidate the warranty on the bike.

Tell me about it! Zoom in on the first section between Lauterbrunnen! Struggling with this connection so photo's might have to wait. Whilst I do have a connection, the view from the chalet isn't bad. Typically I have already had a couple of gear indexing issues with gear 4 and 5. The local...

Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

I'm currently struggling with internet connection, but here is the first climb of the trip. The remainder of the ride didn't record.https://www.strava.com/activities/656138180/shareable_images/map_based?hl=en-GB&v=1469697382

That kind of reminds me of a friend that has now competed in the Megavalanche three times. I wouldn't even want to walk down anything like that, let alone ride it. You did well. :)

20 mile ride on my Kalkfoff

It's a Haibike, the noise will be the rear suspension falling apart. ;)

My legs and arms are like that most of the year. :( Funny how you don't feel it until you jump in the shower! More searching of the route that I'd hoped to ride, has pulled out a couple on interesting clips. This first one had me settled upon, well that's it then, I won't be doing that...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

Well done Dave. :) Interesting that you mention that the original supplier ceased trading. In my case with the commercial vehicle, the importer actually made one of the companies dormant to avoid paying cost due to me. That actually back fired on them, as the high court sheriff wasn't amused by...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

On that note, I'm slightly puzzled that despite all of the moaning, that no one has say started a Facebook page to highlight the issues, raise awareness further, and to instigate one combined court case against the manufacturer, importer, supplier, and the finance company if finance was used for...

Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

Once I figured out his sense of humour the lad that runs this shop in Lauterbrunnen has always proved to be pretty helpful http://www.imboden-bike.ch/de/home/index.html I did find it odd that despite all of the hiking maps, that they didn't sell cycling maps. I had to go to Interlaken last time...

    Accessories - battery bag

The gas mask came in very handy for Halloween! The figure stands behind the door of our cellar, and I put a camera on it last year and sent one of my nephews down into the cellar to get something. I've never seen anyone jump as much as he did when he turned the light on. Annoyingly I deleted...

Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

Being completely truthful Rob, other than faster battery drain, I haven't really noticed very much difference. It might possibly give a one gear advantage, but I think that if I were just plonked onto the bike without knowing which motor was fitted, I might have a job telling them apart. The FS...

Well spotted SW. :) I've actually swapped the motors, as I want to kind of winterise the hardtail, and use the full suspension bike for 'slightly' drier conditions. Oddly I actually prefer the look of both now. :)

Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

I found the time to pick the wheels up after leaving them at my friends bike shop, for him to tension the spokes and true the wheels. Nice to get the bike back together and to give it a final once over. Fully serviced and good to go, and given the conditions that the bike gets used in, it still...

eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

Finally got the chance to pop out this evening for a 25 miles ride. Certainly a lovely evening for it, and I even found the time to pick some wild raspberries. Sometimes you just have to admit defeat. The South Downs are about 18 miles away, and looked stunning this evening. Sadly I only...
