Do ebikes take the fun out of cycling ?

A very good question. For my use they don't take the fun out and have opened up many opportunities to me that I wouldn't have otherwise be able to do. That isn't to say that I think that they are in any way better, as they aren't. They are very convenient though. I get far more satisfaction...

I'd imagine so. And this one answers your comment directly. He even passes comment on idiots such as SW and the like.

Out of interest, where does it state that within the letter of the law relating to EAPCs? http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/electric-bike-guides/uk-electric-bike-law/ https://www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules edit. Don't worry about answering the question Crockers. :) .

Gubbins, it is preload that you require to bunny hop, not rebound! You preload the forks using your arms/body as you initiate the movement, and rebound has no relevance, other than from your own pulling back of the bars. Can you imagine having to stop to adjust rebound settings every time that...

Certainly a very harsh unforgiving looking environment, and undoubtedly easy to get lost in.

Looks fine to me, but my only suggestion would be to end the segment .4 of a mile shorter at the junction with Old Frome Road and the un-named road that leads to the B3135. By doing so, the segment would pick up riders that might otherwise have continued along Old Frome Road and not turned off...

    Llandegla Night Enduro

After spending the last couple of evenings watching alpine night riding and night time xc racing, it would seem that there is a common theme amongst all riders. None use cheap lights, and seemingly all use Lupine. Just going with the flow, I have never really investigated lighting beyond my...

That one looks too cold for me Simon. :) Judging by how soaked and cold that I was this afternoon after my trail building and ride session, the snow flurries had thawed slightly before hitting my neck of the woods. Not a pleasant afternoon for a ride. :(

Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

I've never given that aspect of riding any thought before now, but thinking about it, I am definitely drawn towards a more lunar landscape than a forested one. Having said that, on the rare occasions that I have ridden through a forest that has a tropical feel and look about it, I am always left...

Getting ready for the 2016 Swiss Alps trip.

Hi Chris, I don't suppose that this area of Austria happens to be in your neck of the woods when you are out there? The views are outstanding. :) I'm currently getting really bad withdrawal symptoms for the Alps, and would dearly love to be up in the mountains playing. :( I have a meeting on...

I decided to finish work early today, and head off to explore a little more of the new play area, and to also start some trail building using existing animal trails, in order to try to eliminate many of the boggy fire breaks. Depressingly it now gets dark just too early to make any decent...

    Today I found a downside to EMTB's

I can't complain about them either. It was just bad luck as far as I'm concerned. The only comment that I would make in relation to their footwear, is that they have traditionally produced footwear that has been a bit on the narrow side, but even that issue has now been addressed with much of...

    Today I found a downside to EMTB's

I must have deleted the photos showing the separation, but I'm sure that you won't have any issues. :) The good thing about Shimano is that they offer a two year warranty, and any issues would show long before that. :)

    Today I found a downside to EMTB's

These were the Shimano boots that I had. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-mw81-gore-tex-spd-winter-mountain-bike-boots/?sku=5360459397 The upper lifted from the sole on both boots.

    Today I found a downside to EMTB's

The boots may or may not arrive with cleats supplied, mine did, but the summer shoes didn't. You will find that Shimano also supply a couple of red plastic cover blanks with two raised stud hole covers. These will need to be fitted before the cleat to seal the hole, and then there is a small...

Finding more time than I thought. :) Sunday saw the chance of popping out to make the most of the lovely sunny weather. This was a mix of on and off road, and it made a pleasant change for myself and my riding buddy to be able to chat as we rode along. The valley view to both sides in the mid...
