How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Hopefully you won't need read them again. :) It did leave me with very mixed feelings about having a peak on the front of the helmet. The peak dug into the ground and jarred my neck. As far as I'm concerned, it should have just ripped off, but didn't. I'm now thinking that I might just remove...

    2016 Woosh Karoo hub drive

I can easily see how that could be an issue. Weather is another factor. I was very aware that the bike was not mine, and as such didn't want to take it out in adverse weather. I even applied heli tape to parts of the frame, that I felt might be vulnerable to wear and tear. As I see it, if a...

Failed on my first big hill

If you have ridden the bike in the Alps, then I'm not surprised. I wrote a tyre off in a similar mileage last year, over a two week period in Switzerland. I might rethink tyre choice for my trip out there this year. I had a Bultaco Sherpa in my Teens, then switched to a TLR200 which was a big...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I took the Macina Race out for a little off road jaunt this evening, and just for a change, it was lovely being out with a bit of daylight still remaining. :) I really can't believe just how fast and agile that this bike is, and how well that it handles. Most of my evening ride routes around...

    Mtb offroad Satnav / GPS

It's only up on the Surrey Hills, and really I should just buy the maps now, as it's a fantastic area to ride and explore. The South Downs maps are pain, as you end up paying for a map, with three quarters of it being the sea! Obviously it's a discounted price, but it still leaves a bitter taste.

Failed on my first big hill

Have you considered going tubeless? It's worth every penny, especially when thinking about low tyre pressures. I frequently drop to roughly 18psi, and other than severe drag when things smooth out, I have yet to have any issues with tyre burping, slipping around the rim, pinch flats etc. Having...

    Mtb offroad Satnav / GPS

Thanks Lumos. It wasn't the cost issue, I just didn't want to be buying map tiles that I might not use. :) The 1:25 000 maps are definitely the way to go. :)

    Mtb offroad Satnav / GPS

Lumos, I'm going somewhere this coming weekend for a 35 miles off road ride, and I don't currently have the map tiles for that area, and won't need them on the day either, as the route will be marked out. Do you happen to know if I can still record the route, in order that I can then buy the...

    Yet another dick head. .

    Well, it's electric...

It sort of reminds me a cross between an Eco Rider and a Rokon. To be of any use as a utility bike, it should have been designed to use balloon tyres.

Looking for my first electric bike

Funny that. Like many on here, I've always found hub drives brilliant fun to ride off road, and have yet to break a spoke. Gooner, don't believe everything that you read on here. .

    2016 Woosh Karoo hub drive

Hi Tom, I can also confirm that other than the kindness of offering to send me the bike after comments made in this thread http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/does-bicycle-weight-really-matter.22685/page-3#post-286883 that I in no way have bias or connection to Woosh. I decided to act upon...

    Ride Hieght

You don't. SW, what makes the rear shock so different from the front forks? If you are saying that you need one for the rear shock, why not also fit the same on the front. Both operate in the same conditions. I've yet to need a shock shroud, and find preventative maintenance is all that is...

    Bike insurance revisited

Sounds like their vehicle recovery policies as well. We have been with them for 27 years, and for roughly the last five years, have had to telephone them to re negotiate the quotation. Every year I threaten to go else where, and every year they knock about £70.00 off the renewal cost. The days...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Are you mad!!! No point owning an e-mtb and getting it dirty. I'd sooner stay at home and do nothing, than get the bike or me, wet and muddy! As expected, a good result in relation to fitting the Stealth dropper post. No extra holes required, as the bottom of the seat tube already has...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

The first ride was brilliant. :) I only stayed on the road, and had to cut the ride short at 20 miles, but this was long enough for me to know that I'm really going to love riding this bike off road.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

That does look rather sexy, sleek and dirty! :) Not keen on the front guard, but the rear one looks to tie in very well with the bike. .

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Far too clean! First job is to go out for a nice clean road ride to ensure that the seat height is correct for climbing, then it's time to drop the motor out and fit the Rockshox Stealth dropper seat post. Annoyingly that might have to wait a few days, as the Ultra 1964 is currently...

    Mtb offroad Satnav / GPS

There doesn't appear to be any issue with the battery usage on the phone, which is a Samsung Galaxy of some sorts, although I do tend to use it more as quick guide, rather than an on the move continuous reference. For my use it's fine, but for more serious mapping, as in continuous use, you...

    Mtb offroad Satnav / GPS

I believe that SRS uses Satmap Active 12, a system that is on my own wish list. For now though, I just use OS MapFinder on my Android phone. https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/shop/mapfinder The GPS signal is located in seconds, it doesn't appear to be affected by adverse weather conditions...
