    Electric2011 Dahon Jetstream P8

Thanks Dave, you're my source of inspiration!! :) I still don't understand about the throttle. Isn't it simpler to just have a throttle rather than a cruiser switch with a potentiometer? With a throttle you can still adjust the speed isn't it? So why do you want to use the potentiometer...

    Electric2011 Dahon Jetstream P8

Really... really nice job Dave. I didn't understand everything however: - How can a cruise control replace a throttle? Cruise controle is fixed speed isn't it? You'll have to adjust the speed from the potentiometre below your seat when you use your cruise control? - And I like the idea of using...

    Tongxin Motor Supply

can't open the page. My antivirus has found a trojan. But anyway 180W is not for me lol.

    Tongxin Motor Supply

I've just checked their website and there are no specs on their motors... Do they have motor that can handle 1000W continuous and 650+ RPM? (30 mph on 16" wheel)

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

Dave, this solution is nice but much more complicated than just installing a hub motor. I think for a mid drive solution I'd go for a RC motor that would be light and fast. But not stealthy at all and quite loud. Maybe I'd do that later but for now I don't think I have the skill at all. For...

    Speedict Power/bike computer

Thanks Dave, you're the best :) Scottyf, the max voltage is 80V. Not sure it will survive 20S lipo :(

    Speedict Power/bike computer

super nice review Dave. Does it also work if you don't have the phone plugged in? For example, if you ride multiples times without the phone, then plug your phone to know how many km you did in total, would that count the previous km? What's great with the speedict is that you only need 1...

    Bafang Bpm @ 66.6v nominal 18s lipo

So you use a usb cable to connect it to your pc? What is the voltage and amperage range can you setup? I've seen on the screen multiples speed, I suppose you would need a specific speed switch? And for the ice on the cake, is there a way to connect a 12V led strip or light to the controller...

    Bafang Bpm @ 66.6v nominal 18s lipo

Nice one Scottyf!! How much did you pay for this controller? And is it easy to change the voltage?

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

No worries guys, it's not because of your comments that I purchased the Brompton. It was because of its reputation and it's supposed to be the best of class. And I had a mega good deal at £270. All I need is the frame. I'm going to change most part anyway: gear, chainset, wheels, add a rear...

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

I think there are many smaller bike, but I'm not sure they are very convenient to cycle with... ;) I just checked the Brompton rear dropout, it's 110mm with 8.8 mm axle width... I have the right dropout but the axle is too small... I'm not sure I'll be able to install a mac motor on it :(

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

Here are the folded size comparison: As you can see, there is not that much difference between the size of the If Reach and the Brompton. However, the brompton is potentially small enough to be placed next to a seat in a restaurant. I'll try that this weekend. Will see if it worth its...

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

Guys, I just found an enormous deal!! A second hand brompton for £270. It's a 2006 model and I soon as I've seen this deal I contacted the seller. He didn't have the chance to wait for other calls :D Here's the bike: It's quite old, but all I need is a good strong steel frame for my motor :)

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

Jerry the bike you mentionned are everything except stealthy. It looks like a motorcycle lol. So whenever you go to restaurant, there is always a space under the table for your Brompton? No need to put that on a cloakroom?

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

He just confirmed he has 110mm dropout on the motor. But the remaining lenght may be too short to fit a single speed. I'm trying to see with him if the freewheel and spacers can be directly adjusted to 120 mm before he send it to me. Otherwise there is a risk that may not work.. I'm comparing...

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

Jerry I already have the bike, I'm not going to sell it to buy the electric one. And I want a stealthy one, with this bike you can clearly see the motor and the battery. I may have found a solution with a Mac motor that has 110mm dropout. Not sure how that really work but I'm in touch with...

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

I agree with you but the cute motor (Q85 250W) has a shorter dropout. I think many smaller motors have smaller dropout such as the Tongxing for example. That doesn't surprise me they achieved that. My problem is to add a bigger motor to a narrow dropout.

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

Yeah, I'm used to park my bike outside, but it's quite time consuming and somehow dangerous (even with security bubble/wrap. I was wondering if the Brompton was soooo goood that it would be easily placed under the table or any crowded place. But actually I'm not convinced about that.

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

Except for the Cute-12 found by Dave, I'm not really interested in these motor. They are extra light but can't handle any power. I don't want to burn the motor within few days ;)

IF Reach - The perfect commuter bike

Yesterday I went to a crowded restaurant with friends... And I brought my If Reach with me. ;) I wanted to see if my bike would be able to go in the restaurant! - Once folded, no one say anything and let me enter - but the only available space was under the table.... My bike was too big to be...
