    Punctures............

My pedal mtb has Racing Ralphs, and whilst they don't have any grip on wet Wealden clay, they roll fast and are pretty good as summer tyre. I run a mix on the Lycan, a WTB vigilante on the front, and a Rocket Ron on the rear. The combination only came about because a failure of the Stans...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Sadly no e bike related tools. He specialises in downhill bikes. :)

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Thanks for that, he is a good lad, and has just moved into a bigger shop over the weekend, so probably every little helps. :)

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I just use a Lifu cotterless crank extractor. They can be bought for about £5.00 Be careful when removing the crank arms for the first time. If they haven't been removed before, they will probably be tight, and heavy handiness could see the thread stripped. The motor covers are on a Swiss...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I couldn't remove the sprocket guard quick enough from mine. Having one just makes the chain suck issue even worse. Now if you want bling! ;) Soundwave, if you look carefully at the above, the bike is running a dual sprocket. That could be your answer. You would have to Google search to...

Bosch battery problem. Is me or the bike?

Out of kindness to the lock, I always use the key method, but even with careful adjustment of the mount system, I still find that the battery rattles slightly, so I frequently just use a cable tie to hold it tightly in position.

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

I'd be more concerned that you are going to loose all ability climb hills, or at least without having to use the highest power setting to do so, along with the subsequent reduction in overall mileage per ride. Connex seem to be the sprocket of choice for German e-mtb users, but Martin's...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Hi Ian good to hear from you. :) I was only thinking a few days ago that I haven't seen you in quite some time. There is an Evans ride it event at Dorking at the end of June if you fancy it. Hopefully my knee will be sorted by then. :)

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

After a couple of recent close calls and the tumble that twisted my knee, I've been considering a bit of protective riding gear. This has been brought even further to the front of my thinking by the two lads that I ride with, who are both also now out of action. The first lad, I told not to try...

    Shamano STEPS,latest spec

I wonder why that is, and where the noise comes from to make them so different. Certainly in my case the second motor was near on silent when compared with the first, and when letting mates ride it with me using the pedal mtb, I found myself frequently asking if they had it turned on. I could...

    Shamano STEPS,latest spec

The biggest disadvantage of the Bosch system when compared to the Yamaha system, or at least in the case of an e-mtb use, is the stupid sprocket size. The control console also looks to be more compact on the Yamaha system. I've not tried the Yamaha unit, but in my case, I very much doubt that...

Puncture-proof tyres for mixed on/off-road bike

That's brilliant news Alex. :) I must admit that the pedal mtb gives me far greater pleasure than the e-mtb. Sadly I can barely even walk at the moment, so any riding is out, and realistically I'm coming to the conclusion that my knee is never going to be right, but alternating the riding...

A working dongle - at last

I remember seeing that before. I actually felt that his ability was pretty poor, the workshop practice wasn't great either. Why you put tools and parts on the floor, when you have bench beside! Also just listen to the crap quality of his ratchet. I can't bear to watch it again, and now prefer...

A working dongle - at last

From memory, it didn't really take much longer than that to fix the popping sound from the Classic motor. :) I'm not going to investigate and loose the warranty, but they look pretty interesting inside.

A working dongle - at last

Once you have removed the pedals, being careful not to strip the thread if you have never removed them before, it only takes a minute or so to change the sprocket. I made my own spider tool using a car sump plug removing tool, and a flat piece of metal notched out. A socket could be just as...
