    green bike kit

Heh welcome to the Chinese way of doing business and Chinese business ethics. Saying that, I never had any problem with BMS, the service was great and the battery I got from them came very quickly in a few days and is very high quality compared to some of the eBay stuff...it's still working...

    what bike is this aaand...

I've seen motors like this with similar spoked wheels being sold by Chinese suppliers online..so you may be able to get a suitable replacement fairly cheap and swap the wheel out, but it depends on what sort of motor is.. you may have to replace the controller too to go with a new motor.. Are...

Problem with Chinese postal service ?

TNT says they will ship lithium batteries but class them as dangerous goods and only will ship by special arrangement and after paying a surcharge: TNT Express - Lithium batteries

    Solutions to video camera shake

An update to my MD80 (the ickle spy camera which I tried on my bike and which provided horrendous camera shake)... I saw someone on YouTube with same camera who claims my class 4 SD card wasn't fast enough to capture the frames for moving filming and I should get a class 10... Well I did...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

Q100 it is then. I can order right away with the Q100 so no month delay. I'm really eager to get this conversion started so I get a few rides in before the frost and ice starts ;-) It's been quiet mild for the time of year so hopefully we will get a few more sunny dry days yet before the winter...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

Interesting! One wonders how fast the 328RPM Q100's will be then! But those weigh 2.1kg. It's a tough decision to make whether the extra weight is worth the extra performance. If I stick to the original aim a super light bike, then I should go for the Tongxin I guess.. I'm tempted to just buy...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

Thanks Jerry for the warnings! It's a minefield :) Shame they don't have the tongxin in rears. I think I found the Outrider website but it doesn't look like they have the rears either, unless I'm looking at the wrong site. Well it would be nice to save some weight and get one of these 1.4-1.6kg...

Thanks for explaining d8veh much clearer now was very confused how the Speedict actually works! It sounds like a good alternative with more flexibility than the LCD controller.. I have one of these LCD controllers (different type) with my existing kit on my 26" and it's a lot better than the...

Problem with Chinese postal service ?

It does, but the way VAT and import duty is calculated is very unfair (EU rules enforced on UK) and means consumers (and small businesses such as myself who import small consignments by air freight) are paying what amounts to 30-35% tax, because the VAT is not only charged on the goods value...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

Following on from my last post, just had another reply from keyde for those interested in their products.. I asked when the rear motors will be available to buy and they reckon about a month or so. I also asked them if the motor with the built-in controller and speed sensor works with their...

Problem with Chinese postal service ?

This could be the start of a trend then in the courier industry it looks like. Chinese battery suppliers can get around this by using sea freight and shipping battries in bulk in sea freight containers to the UK to Chinese distributors employed directly over here who then send them out via Royal...

    Rise in parts thefts

The annoying thing is most insurance cover on bikes (even specialist policies) doesn't cover removable parts...and definitely doesn't cover e-bike stuff. Check your policy if you have expensive kit. I've contacted quite a few insurance companies and they're not up front about this and you won't...

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

I've just been looking at the keyde website at their motors... I don't know if these are tongxin, but they look more advanced and lighter compared to the usual offerings on GBK/BMS etc. I noticed one has the controller and speed sensor built inside and still weighs just 1.6kg and there's...

Problem with Chinese postal service ?

That's quite worrying, hope your order arrives soon and hope this doesn't mean higher costs or restrictions on battery imports..

    Brompton carrier modification

Either that or nick the stabilizer wheels off one of those little kiddie bikes you see abandoned. It won't topple over with stablizer wheels and if you're really clever you could make them fold away to gain some cool points ;-)

    green bike kit

Very interesting. Another thing I've noticed is that although they appear to be selling exactly the same products, GBK have renamed them slightly different to give the impression they're different products or they make the products. For example, BMS Sells the Q100 and Q85 motors, GBK sells what...

Thanks I will certainly do some research and give this some serious consideration. If they're cheaper and lighter than buying 36v "bricks" from China so much the better ;-)

Finally bought a smaller folder for conversion...

Hmm.. i didn't factor in switching to big apple tyres and putting a more comfortable saddle on ;-) Maybe losing the gears and adding another 2kg for the bike mods would take me to around 17.5kg total weight with Q100... and 15.1kg carry weight..minus the bag...bit heavier than I would like, but...

Someone else raised the question about electrifying Mezzo D9 and Cwah says the rear dropout width on Mezzo D9 is 135mm...so looks good for Q100? It means dropping to 6 or 7 gears though, no problem. Cwah recommended the Cute 100 motor..I wonder if that is the same motor as the Q100?
