OT: Samsung loses smartphone battle with Apple in US

I would tend to agree..I think Apple just carries too much economic and political clout in US for Samsung to get a fair hearing... there's also the strong patriotism thing in US that enters things like this...Americans are happy to rally around a US brand and corporation against what they see as...

OT: Samsung loses smartphone battle with Apple in US

Note the "OT" (off-topic) in subject ;-) I'm a gadget freak like yourself and I know this forum is full of them ...the Samsung Galaxy smartphones are popular for use on e-bikes with the speedict product so I thought it of interest and a topic worthy of some discussion... I doubt this legal...

    Unusual folding MTB e-bike

I wonder if it would work out cheaper to ship a bike from China than it would from US!? The US shipping rates are crazy, I had a quote for shipping a DownTube folder and the shipping cost was equal to the cost of the bike almost! Then by the time you added on VAT and Duty it's hardly worth it is...

    Unusual folding MTB e-bike

Oh i knew it was Chinese but I mean the Americans just seem to have a lot more importers of bikes and more choice than we do over here.. I'm constantly seeing good folder designs in US from China that aren't available here. Another bike seller in US is Prodeco..they're kinda like a US Whisper...

    Gas Attack?

That's sad to hear what your friend, I hope he was insured. I've never heard of gas being used but I suppose they could Co2 like flecc said.. even just spraying a small fire extinguisher into a small space like a van would disorientate people I imagine..

OT: Samsung loses smartphone battle with Apple in US

Yeah Apple better watch out, this battle may be won but the war is not over as they say... Samsung is an angry tiger now and a much larger company than Apple. In South Korea and across Asia it's a very powerful company indeed by all accounts...it's bigger than the South Korean government and has...

    New bike - AVE MH7

Nice looking bike there Eddie looks like a very practical utilitarian bike with the rack free and mudguards. I agree with you about saddle...although the skinny saddles look good on the 20" bikes and keep the weight down, I'd sacrifice looks for comfort at the drop of a hat! I have a nice...

    Wandering in Wiltshire...

Steve lovely! That's one thing would put me off moving to a warmer climate ;-) Massive storm here, lots of thunder..I think all the spiders are running for cover!! Sorry, we're supposed to be off spiders now anyway and moving back on to canal boats...Lynda is freaked out enough! I think it...

OT: Samsung loses smartphone battle with Apple in US

Hot off the press... anyone who has been following the long-standing rivalry and legal battle between the South Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung and Apple for dominance over the smartphone market in US might be interested in this latest twist...it seems Apple has prevailed over Samsung...

Hehe.. being the entrepreneurial type you've given me an idea now for a spider removal device using a telescopic or folding stick, a bit like my walking stick.. it would have a clear tube at the end wide enough to trap even the biggest beast.. and you would press it against the wall to engage...

30 is an underestimate, that's just the ones I can SEE..I imagine there's probably 10 times that number in reality, a whole community of these thin spiders! They seem to breed like rabbits.. Although I have the same irrational fear of spiders like you strangely these thin spiders don't bother me...

    Motor and over-volting question

Thanks very much guys for the replies and info.. I've learned a lot from this! It seems then it's possible the Austrian guy who sold me my kit could be giving me bad advice to trick me into buying another kit from him, unless his controllers are the exception...he claims they will only work...

My current 20" folding bike short list for next conversion...

Well guys.. I missed out again on the 2nd Dahon Jetstream...it made £380..I didn't bid because I expected it would go over £400 and I think it was too much to pay for a bike so badly scuffed as that was... there is another one on eBay at the moment which is closing in a day or so, but it's...

Lynda don't click my link above if you're gonna be freaked out! Or perhaps like me, the thin spiders don't bother you? I too have heard those big house spiders can bite...I'm the same as you, if I see one in bedroom, there is NO WAY I would sleep in that room until it's caught.

I think these spiders are the ones people fear the most, because they have such thick hairy legs and can get so big and run so fast. I must confess they give me the shivers and if I see one, I absolutely have to catch it and relocate it somewhere in the building.. You're right about these...

Good post Lyn, I enjoyed reading about your excursions and nice pics too! Well done for getting us the new charge points :D I think the canal barge lifestyle looks very appealling..I've often thought about that myself and heard it's gaining more interest. Besides all the benefits of being able...
