One very good reason for illegal power

Never been chased by a dog so far, but once had one running alongside me at a safe distance, and then he suddenly decided to run infront of my bike! Very nearly a nasty doggy accident, but my brakes saved the day, I had to rear end up to stop though. He got a good telling off him his owners.

Thanks Jerry that's something I've been pondering over, suspension, having never ridden 20" before and heard that you feel the road/potholes more etc..that's why I mentioned the Downtube full suspension bike appealling to me and being so affordable at $500..just a shame about the high shipping...

My current 20" folding bike short list for next conversion...

That's interesting I didn't know that.. I thought the designs looked a bit Dahon-ish.. from what I remember reading about the split, the Dahon guy got the designs/patents, and his mrs got the name and assets eh. What a strange arrangement! Those prices are very keen compared to the Dahon...

My current 20" folding bike short list for next conversion...

aflie first questions about your tern link d8... does it ride nicely, what's your impressions of the bike and build quality? how tall are you, and how much do you weigh, if you don't mind me asking? Have you always rode 20" or downsized from a bigger wheeled bike...if from bigger wheeled, did...

Really nice looking fashionable bike! Think I'll add it to my list! Little bit heavy at 12.1kg tho compared to those on my list... if the battery can be removed easily might not be too much trouble, what's an extra kg!

    Bicycle Theft Latest

Shocking stats there.. it makes you wonder how many bikes sold on eBay are illegal... who asks to see the serial number off the frame and checks with manufacturers? Maybe eBay and other sites should start making that mandatory..

My current 20" folding bike short list for next conversion...

CycleCharge Project - A new Project Manager?

CycleCharge knocked back for Sustainable Transport grant Incidentally, I don't think I mentioned..but I did approach my County Council last month for a grant for CycleCharge as my County Council (Worcestershire) was one of those awarded a big grant from the Department of Transport to promote...

CycleCharge Project - A new Project Manager?

Hi all, Due to an increasingly work load and very busy study schedule I'm not able to commit enough time to our CycleCharge project which many of you have kindly supported and donated to since the beginning of the year. As a result, the project has not progressed as much as it could be doing...

    Is it legal?

I wonder how many have actually been stopped and checked by the police, and how they would go about checking if a motor is legal? I've passed many police and none have taken the slightest bit of interest in my bike...except for one time I nearly got stopped as I was riding a bit fast on an...

    First ride after 4 months..

Woah that's lucky. Saying that, in the year or so I've had my bike, I've only ever been caught in rain maybe 3 times and only once in a heavy down pour.. I did wonder if my kit would blow up or simply cut out, but as it turned out, it was fine! The little handlebar bag did a good job at keeping...

    Re-spoking a motor into a smaller wheel

That was my initial thought, just to sell it without battery and get a whole new kit for the 20" project..I suppose I could, but someone said why not just store the bike until such time as you get a ground floor place then you can use it again, so that got me thinking.. I suppose I should buy a...

    Re-spoking a motor into a smaller wheel

My controller is a more intelligent system than most on the market, it has a configuration and LCD and you can set the wheel size..so if I adjust it down to 20" wheel it should adjust the power and speed accordingly I think.

    Re-spoking a motor into a smaller wheel

Ok this may seem a daft question, I dunno.. since I won't be using my 26" bike for a few years, it seems a shame to leave the motor on it and pay another 350 quid for a new motor for my next bike conversion (I'm downsizing to 20").... so I got to thinking, would it be possible to take the motor...

    First ride after 4 months..

bummer! glad you got it sorted and it hasn't off-roaded you :) My matharans have so far saved me from glass and thorns, but I have eyes like a hawk and always looking out for nails and screws, I've seen a few on my travels :)

Burisch offroad electric bike, new for £649 on ebay

Interesting to get a review on the bike, shame about your pedal problem and puncture.. let us know what your overall impression is and if you would recommend it. I have a cheap Dahon-Espresso-style folding MTB I converted myself (250W) and I run it with 36V 10Ah it has no problems climbing...

Burisch offroad electric bike, new for £649 on ebay

Looks like a fantastic buy at that price, it ticks all the right boxes, 20kg total weight, front-suspension, low weight 36v 9AH battery, discrete rear motor and the battery design is neat too so removing and carrying it would be feasible.. that's slightly cheaper than what it cost to build my...
