    MINI Folding Bike

Mini Review The Evening Standard was given an exclusive chance to road-test it. The aluminium-framed cycle weighs under 11kg and comes in matt black with silver Mini and Union Jack motifs. The eye-catching, neon-yellow chain is coated in Teflon rather than oil to avoid besmirching the urban...

    e-Bike computer?

Ok a little off-the-wall this one.. :D I spotted this neat project to launch a fully operational credit-card sized computer called the Raspberry Pi for £16 by a UK-based group. I was thinking, if ever for some reason you wanted to install a computer on an e-bike, this surely must be it! It can...

    MINI Folding Bike

That's good to know cwah as I'm still searching for a suitable 20" folder for my next conversion.. I had the Uno down as my favourite choice because of its simplicity and ultra light-weight at this price point..but now I may have to re-think. I've heard the Uno rolls well and the magnets keep...

    Supplier of E-bike parts

You're right they are shipping directly from China or Hong Kong it says, but they have a French representative/agent serving the French market. Microsoft's translator will translate it into English for you...

    MINI Folding Bike

..after a bit more digging it seems the bike is made by Dahon. And it's not the first time Mini have put their brand to a folding bike...check this, seems they licensed it to some Asian bike manufacturer? Although there's some of the new Mini bikes selling on eBay for £380 the official UK...

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

That's an interesting take on it, I did wonder myself.. it just seems incredible that an organisation the size of Royal Mail with all its resources had its online postage services down for two weeks off and on. It caused myself no end of problems and the timing as Lemmy said, couldn't have come...

What would be the Ford Fiesta of Ebikes?

Ha I was going to say Cyclamatic as the first bike which came to mind, but Fordulike beat me to it! If ever there was a cheap bike for the masses which according to reviews here is good value for money and backed up with by a large established retailer, that surely is it.

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

Royal Mail lost £110 million pounds last year I heard. That business is in serious financial trouble and has union problems with opposition to modernising plans so I expect investing in bikes is out of the question. They have just undergone an independent review and audit to try and assess what...

    Exploding battery

That sounds very nasty glad nobody was hurt. I very nearly lost my eyesight many years ago when a battery exploded on me. Having bits of battery pulled out of your eyeballs and then being blind for a week is no fun at all. Are you able to say what make of battery it is or where you got it...

    MINI Folding Bike

Flecc do you think it might be made by Dahon? It has a Dahon look about it don't you think? I know they make bikes for a number of other firms. The Dahon MU Uno is my favourite folding bicycle at the moment and I've noticed the price is coming down a bit..I'm waiting for the January sales :D...

Do you leave your battery on the bike when you lock it?

Do an insurance poll next. How many have their bikes and batteries covered on household insurance, and how many have actually checked that it does in fact cover batteries when the bicycle is left outside?! How many have taken separate specialist insurance for their bikes? I contacted one...

    MINI Folding Bike

Interesting little development of interest to folding bicycle enthusiasts or anyone considering a bike for conversion... BMW are cashing in on the MINI brand and have entered the folding bicycle market with this 20" wheeler: They're marketing it as suitable to go in the boot of a MINI and it...

    Heated Gloves

Woah that sounds like a great item at that price. Have you tried them out yet? I have some thermal lined trousers and thermal lined fleece lined gloves and they make a huge difference, especially the trousers.

New poll: How did you come across e-bikes

I think it would be an interesting poll to gage general awareness. I'm trying to think back to when I first discovered e-bikes.. As I recall, I was looking on eBay and saw an electric moped (quite by accident) but on looking closer I noticed it had pedals and said "no license or insurance" and...

Keeping batteries healthy during the cold winter

Just as an aside to this thread..I've noticed the cold weather this month has really affected my Lithium-Ion battery, performance dropped noticeably with the temp..as it's getting frosty now I've stopped using it for the last few weeks and the battery was fully charged so I guess I need it to...

    Bad News

I think the EU position with 250W limit is a sensible and practical balance between the two, cycles and motorbikes.. it puts e-bikes firmly in their own category and addresses all the safety issues without restricting the usefulness of e-bikes still... although I know many here would disagree...

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

E-bikes as a concept I think are definitely not niche products as jmod illustrates with the 3-markets approach..and then he added a 4th market, those who want to ride further than would be humanely possible for many of us, to visit new places and explore the countryside etc.. I bet there's...

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

My bike does pretty much what you describe..I can adjust the pedal assist finely between 6 levels..on the highest level I have to put in hardly any effort just basically make sure the pedals are turning and the motor does all the work even up the steepest of hills...in fact it's hard to keep up...
