Second long trip on self-build bike

Thanks, I will do another post shortly showing how much it cost and where I got everything.. I've been waiting until the bike was completely finished as I still have a few more things to get..tyres, mud guards, rack and also I need to tidy up the wiring, make an enclosure for the battery and...

Second long trip on self-build bike

Today I did my second long trip on my self-build 250W 36V bike to try and flatten my LiFePo4 5Ah battery.. I covered 22km, just over 13 miles...about the same distance I did on my last trip.. I did charge the battery for an hour and half this morning before setting off.. I wish I hadn't, as...

    Gone in 60 seconds

Scary. The professional thief just looked like a cyclist who had lost his key and he was so relaxed and casual that passers by thought that was the case. If all the locks can be broken so easily should we be looking at alarms? Or perhaps just get insurance cover with the minimum standard of...

    Chinese LiFePo4 battery concerns

    Chinese LiFePo4 battery concerns

Ok thanks for the advice..lesson has been learned, I just had no idea they would be so fragile.. I checked the battery over and appears to be no holes just some slight indents.. I haven't used this battery yet but I will take extra care and charge it supervised.. I'm currently looking for a...

Self-build bike nearing completion..couple of questions

Damn. I can't stop thinking about my ride today and I'm yearning to get back out again and go further. I never thought electric bikes would be addictive! Still, if it gets me out the flat more and enjoying the fresh air and exercising a bit, it's going to be a healthy addiction ;-) I attracted...

Self-build bike nearing completion..couple of questions

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy files? I've been trying to find a round file without much luck. I ordered a set of files online but the supplier (Choiceful) sent my order minus the files.."oversold" typical. Just my luck, the one thing I really needed most in the order.

Self-build bike nearing completion..couple of questions

Thanks for explaining about the noise, I thought it might be just my bike. I didn't realise the noise was coming from the motor itself. I don't suppose you can do anything about that..except perhaps increase speed more gradually but that's not always practically possible is it. You're...

    Wouldn't this be nice....

Incredible, quite a contrast to here in the UK isn't it! I bet if you go into many bike shops you would get a strange look and headshake if you asked. And those that do sell ebikes often won't touch other brands.

Self-build bike nearing completion..couple of questions

A little tip.. I had a saddle I'm looking to sell which I removed from my bike, but annoyingly it had the bike sellers logo screen printed onto it. I tried all manner of household products to remove it without any success. Then I thought, I know..nail varnish remover.. and hey presto the...

Duff camera I was hoping to have some video from my new camera but it looks like the one I have is dud and doesn't work :( I've had to send it back for a replacement but 7dayshop have been good about it and even given me a freepost address to return it.. one thing I did notice about this...

Self-build bike nearing completion..couple of questions

Went for a ride this morning to test 5Ah battery Checked the weather and there was a 2 hour window this morning between 9 and 12 before rain was forecast so decided to spend a couple of hours out on the bike to see how long the battery would last.. I covered 13 miles and got back feeling...

    camcorder for helmet

Glorious video quality and hardly any camera shake. Head mounting seems a better position than handlebars in that respect, don't get so much bump impact plus you get a nice clear filming angle.

    camcorder for helmet

Camera arrived today My little camera arrived today from 7dayshop...I just unpackaged it and I'm really surprised and impressed by the quality. I wasn't expecting much for £16.99 delivered. It's a really well made camera and an absolute bargain at this price. The case is anodised aluminium...

    camcorder for helmet

At this price, why not have two cameras, bar mounted for a continuous road shot and helmet cam for side shots..perhaps you could rig up a switch for the helmet or only use bits of film you want included in the final video..videos will look very professional with the switching camera angles ;-)

Self-build bike nearing completion..couple of questions

Hi Peter, I ordered my batteries from a Chinese company (YXM) advertising on eBay. He came recommended to me as a few people on the forum have bought batteries from him and said he's reliable. He normally advertises standard size batteries but will supply any size at no extra cost if you ask him...

Self-build bike nearing completion..couple of questions

Thanks D8veh for that helpful explanation and to flecc for the link. I have an LCD panel for my controller so the battery is indicated there, but based on what you say I suppose it's not any more accurate than the LED type you normally see. As you say it will be very interesting to see how...

A Busetti On Ebay 60 Mile Range

That's really how e-bikes should be used isn't it. The power should compliment pedalling not replace it. As you say, the range can be extended much longer that way if you only use assistance when you need it. Does your Sunlova have variable levels of pedal assistance? My bike does and the...
