    Brexit, for once some facts.

I am perfectly OK with that, it makes sense and no doubt that is what Boeing, along with all the others would say. All of the manufacturers have been dragged through the courts at some point for subsidies. Perhaps the WTO needs to reform or at least accept the realities that the development of a...

Perhaps, it's more complicated even than that - I was born a scouser!

Well, well - that is encouraging. I really did enjoy reading DW in all his manifestations. I will look on you in a different light in future - perhaps!. Even stranger, I lived nearby to Marlborough in those days.

I think it was Dennis Wheatley that wrote about those planes, not me.

Would seem that way to me, but not at all surprising really. Albeit with the odd amusing retort encouraged a little later in the thread.

It is not about protectionism, that is your interpretation. It is about subsidies, on both sides and that is plainly (pun) wrong. You really should try to read things as written - including my posts.

No too sure where we disagree here? I'm not aware of saying that I agreed with everything that Boeing, or indeed what Trump does or says is correct or fair. As you said "Get Real'

Get real - indeed, makes a lot of sense. You should try it sometime.

I'm not wrong at all, neither am I the judge (and jury). The paper you quote lays it out quite fairly and there is no need for you to read between the lines. The last paragraph probably says it all if you choose to be pragmatic "Canada has also threatened to cancel a likely $5bn order of...

Sorry, this is totally about state aid!

From what I read the real argument here is between Canada and Brazil with each accusing the other of massive subsidises of their respective aircraft industries, in fact both have been fined by the WTO over the past few years. Whilst Boeing have their own history when it comes to selling...

Seem to be missing the real question here: are the planes being sold below cost? That in turn raises the spectre of manufacturing in JC’s ‘modern’ GB with state-owned utilities and government controlled investment banks. Not so sure we will find too many customers for the big-ticket items.

Once Brexit is completed, will the UK (or at least England and Wales) join Trump's USA as new states? Absolutely, in fact plans to join the US are already well underway. If you have ever visited the UK you will no doubt have noticed the abundance of wind turbines scattered across the...

The language used on here really is shameful The term Great Britain was first used officially in 1474, in the instrument drawing up the proposal for a marriage between Cecily the daughter of Edward IV of England, and James the son of James III of Scotland, which described it as "this Nobill...

I feel a ned to pop back and correct Flecc Derivation of "Great" The Greco-Egyptian scientist Ptolemy referred to the larger island as great Britain (μεγάλης Βρεττανίας - megális Brettanias) and to Ireland as little Britain (μικρής Βρεττανίας - mikris Brettanias) in his work Almagest (147–148...

Woosh I am off but in closing let me leave you all with these thoughts. Not my own I hasten to add but very valid I feel If Brexit ends up wrecking the UK’s economy and making everyone poor, will the Remainers be proven right and start reversing the whole process? Should the wider national...

Step too far there OG, no where do I say or imply being 'brave' yes doing my duty. The simple fact being that when essential services withdraw that is at least the one time that Government has to do something about it. Would have thought even you could work that out without the need to stupidly...

That's a new one for me, arrogance! Remind me to tell you what I think about you and your type. Somewhat amused to relate that back in the 70's I commanded 7 Green Goddesses from the barracks in Windsor. Our task was to protect Heathrow Airport. Me an optimist, of course I am! Would I shout...
