    BMS Low Voltage Cutout

BMS LVC (low voltage cutout) should only be relied upon for protecting the battery from irreversible damage caused by over discharging. Controller LVC should be set at a higher voltage - IMO, around 3.5-3.6V per cell (series string) for 18650 format cells, since available energy below this...

Help us build a better Ebike battery

Funny really.... I read that article about 'standardisation' and only see intensions of proprieterisation and market control. That's just how they roll in Germany though.

What are the major factors that persuaded you to get an electric bike?

I used to dream of a motorized bicycle as a kid (think i imagined a gasser back then) and rode around with a phonecard wedged in my brake caliper so it made a pseudo engine nose against my spokes. Many years later as an adult, in 2012 it became apparent that the technology existed to to so...

    e Day has finally arrived.

I rode the Imber Range perimeter path a couple of years ago (around 50 miles if I remember correctly) and very much enjoyed it. If I claimed I obeyed the speed limit though, I'd be lying. I want to do the White Horse challenge at some point (visit all of Wiltshire's white horses in a single day...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

You say "unicorn", I say "knobhead".

    e Day has finally arrived.

Welcome to the eventual addiction that is e-biking. Whereabout in Wiltshire are you based? Anywhere near where I'm located in Westbury?

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Hasn't everyone wasted enough of their time bickering about this by now? I know that if I were as old (and supposedly wise) as some of you guys, I'd not waste another moment of my life trying to convince somebody else that my views on the matter are more valid than theirs. Just maybe its...

Describe your own ‘Truman Show’ bubble

I'm in a similar scenario. I carry 2752Wh (62Ah @ 44.4V) when out on a long-range ride and if I'm not too frivolous with the power (which isn't often), am limited by time, rather than battery capacity. I have managed to drain this huge pack in 54 miles before, although reckon I could get under...

    Dremel

I've owned the Dremel 3000 for nearly a decade and it never lacked torque for any of the hundreds of tasks I've used it for (not that it needs much, since this tool is all about RPM's). Whatever you do, buy a corded model, not battery. Also, stick to the Dremel brand. I've used some real crap...

Do the cops care about illegal eBikes?

Today it is largely understood that the majority of sentenced abusers were once abused themselves. You know where I'm going here....

Do the cops care about illegal eBikes?

If calling it a 'smack' makes it more palatable for the person handing out the discipline, then that's their prerogative. Once they start introducing weapons to the process, they're just kidding themselves.

Do the cops care about illegal eBikes?

Before uttering another word, I'd like to acknowledge that this is indeed both a sensitive and emotive subject and I am in no way passing judgement on anyone else by expressing my own views. Ignoring morality for a moment... Flecc, did you ever receive physical discipline for the same behaviour...

Do the cops care about illegal eBikes?

Playing devils advocate for a moment... Is there anyone else you would be happy to hit as a matter of course because they wont do as you want? Your wife or partner? An employee? A stranger you pass on the street? A prisoner maybe? I received my fair share of smacks growing up and have always...

    HANDLEBAR EXTENDER

Great thread guys! I've been evaluating my options of dealing with a short steerer tube and there are some great suggestions here. Thanks.

    Battery DIY.

That Volcano is a fantastic bit of kit and worth every penny IMO! Tried my mates and did a henry in a massive black bin liner. I don't think anyone said a word for the next three hours. Happy times!

    Air suspension fork recommendations

Thanks. I am already aware of the points you raise. As mentioned earlier on in the thread, I'm holding out for a minimum 200mm steerer (most forks seem to get cut a lot shorter) hence the desire to find another way around the problem.

    Air suspension fork recommendations

That had crossed my mind previously, but I'd rather not put my trust in one not to fail while I'm bombing along at close to 40mph.

    Air suspension fork recommendations

I still haven't pulled the trigger on a new fork yet, largely because used forks nearly always have their steerer tube cut shorter than I need. This is leading me to think of alternative solutions. Excuse my lack of knowledge, but I've never messed around with suspension or steering components...

D8, do you know if the controller you've linked to above on AliExpress features current or speed control?
