    Xiongda Motor?

Nothing wrong with 24" wheels and a hub motor will thank you for them over bigger ones. Geared hub motors certainly have their limits though when it comes to off roading. Jumps (even regular curb hopping) are definitely out of the question, so be sure that you really do mean 'light' before...

‘Quantum Leap’ in Battery Innovations Presented at Eurobike

It makes sense when you put it like that, although a heavier bike is not a showstopper. I suppose this is one of those things that is down to your individual goals. If your aim is extreme power and you ran top end components, the battery wouldn't be first to give up the ghost. Of all the...

‘Quantum Leap’ in Battery Innovations Presented at Eurobike

You could just carry more/larger batteries.... Of course though, it would always be nice to have higher energy/power densities than what is available, but I don't consider current lithium batteries lacking enough to call them a weak link. I certainly consider them reliable enough when used...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

Good grief, enough already! Not only do we have numerous Brexit related threads within 'The Charging Post' (which is fine), but your political ramblings are spilling over to other sections of the forum and I for one have had enough of them. I hope for your own sanity, your real world 'selfs'...

I'm actually surprised you're not going to knock up a batch of DIY jam yourself.

I think you're on to something there. The canteen at the new gigafactory must be huge and I bet they serve a lot of toast in the morning. Im sure that with Tesla being such a forward thinking company, must have already accounted for 'peak jam' though.

‘Quantum Leap’ in Battery Innovations Presented at Eurobike

Not sure what all the negativity regarding this post is about. Larger format cylindrical cells are definitely happening, the driver being simpler (cheaper) construction of large capacity packs with fewer points of failure. Larger cells also make integrated cooling easier with larger spaces...

Hobby king multi star on offer

A bulk charger outputs full pack voltage, negating the need to rearrange packs every time you want to charge. They should be used together with a BMS to pretty much 'foolproof' the charge process, but can be used without one if you know what you're doing.

Hobby king multi star on offer

That's what I thought until I switched from RC chargers to a bulk charger, then like anything worth doing, wondered why I hadn't done so sooner. Just something to consider before spending any more money on charging equipment.

Hobby king multi star on offer

Have you ever considered bulk charging, which would let you charge without having to reconfigure your packs every time?

Stunning Mercedes Smart eBike reaches new heights!

So, Smart eBiker, just to recap, please can you tell us again what drew you to purchase your designer Mercedes Smart eBike. Ignore all the haters. I get just as much grief when I mention how I enjoy to hoon around my private estate on my unrestricted multi kW ebike. It's understandable though -...

    The new best headlight

'Light power' is just a nonsense comparison with an old fashioned incandescent bulb - 125W equivalent. 'Actual power' is the actual electrical consumption. 15W / input voltage = current draw in amps.

Battery - mega deal or total ballkocks

Use in a light is unlikely to demand even 1C from a cell, so you'd be good to use the highest capacity you can get your hands on.

Battery - mega deal or total ballkocks

'Best' is a very subjective term when it comes to batteries, since capacity and discharge rate are nearly always opposing properties. Higher capacity cells have limited discharge rates unless you start to parallel them into larger groups.

Battery - mega deal or total ballkocks

I don't know of any sources of new cells I'm afraid. Word on the street is that they're very difficult to get hold of since Tesla take almost all that Panasonic can produce. Salvaged 90kWh Tesla packs are the most readily available source that I am aware of.

Battery - mega deal or total ballkocks

Total bo!!ocks I'm afraid. The highest capacity 18650 cell at this moment in time is the Panasonic NCR18650G at 3600mAh.

    The new best headlight

I'm not familiar with that light, but it looks like it features a 'barn-door' type shutter. This should let you adjust the beam cutoff to avoid blinding oncoming vehicles.

    The new best headlight

Yes, it is entirely possible for a controller to supply a motor with the same power while opperating on 48V as 36V, after all, it is just a buck converter that regulates power. That however is missing the point. The only industry standard that exists to compare the amount of energy that ANY...
