    EBAY JUMPING JACK PRICES

I have previous experience as an ebay retailer and can confirm that all three of these reasons are true and relevant.

    Broken wire

Although frustrating at the time, a successful field repair is satisfying, isn't it. I'm always interested in what people carry in their bike kit. Maybe I'll get a photo thread going today on the subject.....

Lands End to John O Groats - Unsupported

I've been following Troy Rank over on ES on his world record attempt and would love to do what you are doing right now. Best of luck. I'm sure we'd all be interested to hear more about your experience once you are back home.

    Liability....

Having thought about this for a bit, is it not just a case of those who take the biggest risks in business, usually reap the biggest rewards. Also, 'default responses' from lawyers are very rarely based on anything resembling reality, more the worst-case reflection on the state of the world in...

    Liability....

Blimey! The last thing I expected from this thread is a sensible suggestion. Why have you not already done this Col?

    Liability....

Effing b*****d underwriters! I'm sure they make it up as they go along. In my experience, business and ethics do not mix, so I think your conscience and foresight is to be applauded while this mess is being sorted (if it is at all that is). For the time being though, I think you're fighting...

    Liability....

Col, on the basis that it's not currently illegal to SELL them (and we're fairly certain that's the case) would a professional indemnity insurance solve your worries?

    Liability....

There's nothing inherently unsafe about an s-class bike is there? Surely if there was, they wouldn't be allowed to be used under registration elsewhere in the EU.

    Liability....

That's an understatement, but I'm not sure it will be any clearer in 2016. It seems it isn't illegal to sell them now - unless explicitly stated so in 2016, this isn't going to change is it?

    Liability....

I guess I was looking for something more specific. I get the impression that he's kind of creating his own problem here and discussing it publicly could even make it a self-fulfilling prophecy. EDIT: In your example, how could anyone other than the rider be held responsible? If I decide to do...

    Liability....

Excuse my ignorance, but what exactly would YOU be doing wrong?

    Liability....

KTM, if all you're worried about is your own liability, why not just get the customer to sign a disclaimer saying they won't use the bike on publicly accessible land? Sorry if this has already been discussed in the thread.

    15mph speed limit

That's probably a good point..... Does the LCD continue to display a speed while freewheeling?

    Lowering amps

Hmmm... Maybe. As the charge nears completion, the current tapers off and the last 10% of the charge actually takes the longest. This will be the case no matter how discharged the battery is to begin with. Judging the energy used by the time taken to charge is not necessarily going to tell you...

increase volts, how and what will this do.

Just to confirm, is this your bike?: http://www.voltbikes.co.uk/alpine-x-electric-mountain-bike.php It says it's a lithium polymer battery which I wasn't expecting and possibly throws the voltage calculations out of whack. We really need to confirm the fully charged voltage of your battery...

increase volts, how and what will this do.

What d8veh has said in the previous post is correct. 48v is a nominal rating - fully charged, you're looking at 57.6v which is likely more than a 36v controller can handle. The only way to tell for sure would to be to visually identify the rating of the input capacitors and FETs contained...

increase volts, how and what will this do.

Hi Sloth. Have you confirmed yet that there is nothing else limiting your speed? If there is, no amount of extra volts will help. Assuming there isn't any artificial speed limit in place, then yes, raising the voltage to 48v will raise your top speed by 33%. Whether your controller can take the...

    15mph speed limit

Or it could possibly take the signal from one of the hall sensor phases.

    Lowering amps

Yes, it will reduce the power from the controller, but I suspect a couple of notches will not have much effect. FYI, cutting one of the shunts completely should half the power.

    Do NOT use if cycling.

The reviews had me laughing so much I struggled for breath.
