    sat nav for cyclists

I'm an android user, but i highly recommend you try Cyclestreets. I've found nothing comes close to its routing and although you have to be online to create a route, you can store the mapping data locally. My goto solution for offline routing is called OSMAnd, but alas is not available for...

    Sakura Charger query

What Bernie has asked isn't all he needs to know and I can only repeat what I've already said. A watt meter that sits between the mains socket and charger will not tell him the voltage that the charger is holding the battery at. This is an important piece of information and needs to be known if...

    Sakura Charger query

This will not tell you the whole story. I have come across SLA chargers that hold the cells at a voltage higher than is recommended and although at this point very little current flows, the electrolyte continues to boil away. The saving grace with lead acid batteries though, is that they are...

    Sakura Charger query

No, I mean voltage. Measuring current will tell us something, but it won't tell us if the battery is being charged or held at an incorrect voltage. Also, measuring voltage is usually easier since the circuit doesn't have to be 'broken' as when measuring current inline. As long as you don't go...

    Battery Pack Building

Don't leave those voltage alarms plugged in over the long term. They'll drain your packs down before too long, but at least you'll know when they do.

    Sakura Charger query

The only way to tell is to measure the voltage of the battery, while it is connected to the charger once the charge cycle is complete. SLA's can be safely held at a standby voltage by a charger with the capability to do so.

    Sakura Charger query

Does your charger mention anything about a 'float voltage' and if so, what is it listed as?

    Speed Limit

Are you able to post a photo of the loom of plugs at the other end of those wires? Also, can you provide further details of what you have tried already?

    Battery Pack Building

Lipo batteries use a fairly volatile chemistry and needs to be given respect, else in curtain circumstances can pose quite a danger. If you use them within certain operating parameters though, they are great little bundles of energy. Make sure you've done your research before going down that route.

    Bike recomendations

My rims never had any wear indicators, but as stated in the edit to my previous post, I may be closer to the limit than I'd assumed.

    Bike recomendations

Fearing that my previous smart-arse comment could come back to haunt me later, I just checked my rims. How does one tell how much wear is too much? EDIT: Scrap that question. I've done a quick bit of research and apparently I may already have cause for concern. I feel a new thread coming on...

No, that's what happens when you notice that it's all worn down, and then do nothing about it.

....Or don't ride in the wet. Which I don't. Also, I only weigh a little over 9 stone..... EDIT: In the context of the original post, an everyday commuter IS better off with disk brakes, so that is good advice.

    Bike recomendations

Haha! Since I no longer have to commute (working from home now), I don't find myself riding with wet rims very often; maybe just the odd standing puddle now and then. If I did, I'm sure I'd be more inclined to agree. I'll make the upgrade on my next build, but the original ghEttoBIKE is still...

    Bike recomendations

Pah! I'm running Clarks v-brakes on a 30mph 1200w build. When they're properly adjusted, they've got plenty of stopping power.

50 Mile round trip commute, feasible or not?

Only downsides are weight and cost. If you can run them simultaneously (configured in parallel) to give twice the capacity, you'll see a *little* more than twice the range, less stress on the batteries leading to a longer life and maybe even another mph of speed due to reduced voltage sag. I...

    Easybike easycity 36v 10amp

Have you tried d8veh's first suggestion yet? Also, it's worth checking that the LCD is still set to the correct wheel size. You also mentioned a wiring loom in your earlier post. Are there any plugs or wiring visible there? Failing that, you are going to have to gain access to the controller...

It probably takes the speed sensing signal from one of the hall sensor phases. Do you own a multimeter?

£50 Discount off used Demo ????

Assuming nothing is mechanically or electrically wrong, I'd expect to be discounted around the cost of a replacement battery.

Does an E-Bike make things too easy?

I look at it like this: An individual is able to pedal continuously at a power level they feel comfortable at. Add a motor and you can supplement this power with anything from a fraction to many multiples of the human level of input. As long as you put in the same amount of effort for the same...
