    Spare Inner Tube Advice

Is there any reason not to run with the Gaadi's permanently and carry another to swap if a puncture occurs? Are there any noticeable bulges or flat spots in the tire when using them? Has anyone used them at higher speeds or power? How about with oversized tires, i.e. 2.5" plus?

    Spare Inner Tube Advice

At first I liked the sound of these Gaadi tubes, but as I read the story of your puncture, it kind of sounds like you're dealing with the puncture twice. Seeing as I'm able to patch a tube by the side of the road and be on my way in 5-10 minutes, I'm left wondering what I'd have to gain.

How on earth does he get away with this?

What is that monstrosity? It's hideous! I think that many people have a hard time looking past the form of any bike that isn't from the traditional school of design. The bomber frame is a very effective way of holding a substantial number of watt-hours of power. The fact that it resembles a...

How on earth does he get away with this?

I wouldn't walk into a cop shop if I could avoid it, but I genuinely believe that if it were to meet all legal obligations as described, it would be arguable. I don't understand why you think it wouldn't.

How on earth does he get away with this?

That is arguable point about the form of the bike, but it doesn't have to be limited to 250W of actual power, just have a motor with a 250W 'rating', which we all now know is kind of meaningless. If the motor was rated accordingly, the speed capped at 15.5mph and the throttle swapped for a crank...

How on earth does he get away with this?

Flecc, IMO you are the single most knowledgeable person I have encountered when it comes to UK pedelec law. If you can't come to an easily definable conclusion, what hope do the rest of us have?

How on earth does he get away with this?

I'm not trying to start an argument here, but I dont think I am. A Cycle Analyst is no different than any other adjustable console. It is simply a limiting device. It cannot affect a bike to achieve something it couldn't do without the Cycle Analyst.

How on earth does he get away with this?

No wonder there haven't been any actual legal cases put through the courts. With the mess of laws and legislation that currently stands, I doubt the CPS would want to touch it with a ten foot barge pole.

How on earth does he get away with this?

Accepting this as fact only leads us to the conclusion, that many retailers who HONESTLY believe they are offering legal bikes are in fact not. Any retailers in this boat want to comment?

Really interested about why you believe this to be true. With a couple of minor modifications, I'm pretty sure that Stealth could make it legal for the EU market if they wanted to.

Hobby king multi star on offer

I see that the bike in your avatar features an EM3EV frame bag. May I ask, how do you carry that much battery?

How on earth does he get away with this?

To those speaking of high power bikes that sound like circular saws, are you referring to chain driven mid-drives? The Stealth Bomber has a DD hub motor that is quieter than all legal geared hub motors I've ever come across and doesn't make any more noise than the tyres do as they roll.

How on earth does he get away with this?

I guess that's where our interpretations of the law differ. A Cycle Analyst does not equate to an 'off-road button' in my eyes. I'm also now wondering what the difference is between 'dongle capable', and say, a speed limiting reed switch supplied without the means to defeat it.

How on earth does he get away with this?

As far as I can see in this limited configuration and with an under rated motor, there is little difference between a Bomber and many other UK legal ebikes. It's quite funny really. For all the discussion of laws and legality that goes on here, we still haven't a clue between us, have we?

How on earth does he get away with this?

What's the difference between that and other controllers limited at their display consoles, or even unplugging the limit wire on your typical china controller? Have you ever played with a cycle analyst? Reprogramming the speed limit from the console is not something you can easily do while riding.

How on earth does he get away with this?

Just playing devils advocate here for a moment.... What's stopping Stealth from getting Crystalyte to under rate the beefy DD hub motor as 250W and then shipping the bike limited to a max speed of 15.5mph configured at the Cycle Analyst? Wouldn't it then be UK legal?

    Smart Ebike

Good point. As an asside, Justin LE made that very mistake during his journey across Canada several years ago. He planned on using regen to ease his descent down a long mountain range at the start of a day's journey, but failed to plan for the energy recaptured and fully charged the battery...

    Smart Ebike

Completely pointless on a smart bike. Flecc put it quite well. Regen is not worth doing with levels of kinetic energy achievable on a legal bike. Regen with 4000W from 40mph is a totally different story. Whatever the scenario, you're unlikely to recapture more than 10% unless starting your...

How hub motors are evolving :)

An IGH should pair up well with a DD motor to form the basis of an extremely reliable commuter build.

E-bike crashes into 2 elderly sisters. (Singapore)

It also had a couple of wheels. Shall we ban those too? There are some awful implementations of PAS that carry on powering the motor for seconds after you stop pedalling. This doesn't mean that all PAS is dangerous does it? An idiot will always be an idiot.
