Help! Bottle battery has died..Burisch GT250

I presume you have tried this lot - they did my old one and seemed very good There used to be an ebike shop in York that did it - they would also analyse the cells first or something As far as a DIY job - I wouldn't because I am a wimp when it comes to electronic (plus my hand shakes at times...

Electric Bike for light touring - and Halfords

Bosch or Carrera As far as I can tell Bosch are by far the best available (maybe) - until they are not. Seem to go wrong very seldom but if they do they are pretty much impossible to repair except by Bosch - who jusrt want you to replace the motor or battery - which is expensive Carrera -...

    Peugeot City Electric Bike

4 years old brings up anotehr major point In 2016 the ebike regulation changed to match the EU regs Prior to that the max motor power was 200W but full throttles were allowed On 1st Jan 2016 this changed to max power 250W and full throttles were banned - the extra power makes a huge difference...

Electric Bike for light touring - and Halfords

I presume you have looked around local bike shops They may well have more for you to have a go on - and the after sales service will be far better Personally I have a Raleigh Motus - centre Bosch motor as mentioned above - but seems far better than teh Carrera - or so it felt to me when I...

    Carrera Crosscity

My wife has one of these - she has never actually ridden it so I take it out when I feel sorry for it and try to drain the battery and recharge it a few times - and we take it with us when we go on holiday in this country because it fit in the car easier than by full sized ebike apart from...

Which helmet for ebike? What do you use?

not exactly sleek and cool looking! and the ebay site is short on testing standard info I mean - it looks great on the model - but then a mucky XXL boiler suit would look good on her I know safety comes first but there are limits

Which helmet for ebike? What do you use?

What is this thing about having matt black cycle helmets!!! surely white, yellow or some other bright colour would be better???? reminds me of an article I read in a mountaineering magazine many years ago where a mountain rescue team was moaning about the fashion for green and brown walking...

Petition to increase speed assist limit on E bikes

I can see good reasons to introduce a more powerful category - with some minimal regulations included - maybe a cheap test once a year to test brakes or something But overall someone needs to consider the whole electic scene - new things keep cropping up - scooters at the moment If would be...

Petition to increase speed assist limit on E bikes

OK - we all see them from time to time it does us good to try to make allowances for others he ( it's gotta be a he??) was probably 'training' - hence entitled

Petition to increase speed assist limit on E bikes

a good post - I would agree with most of it except one point I do not think MOST people are capable of pedalling a normal bike at 20 mph on the flat on a windless day maybe for a short time witha lot of effort4 but not constantly YES - your average club member who cycles most days in a...

how drivers see you based on the clothes you wear.

I think we need to focus on starting from where we are we are (mostly) in the UK - and in some areas there are some good cycle paths - but often these have problems that drivers may not be aware of some we may be riding on the road anyway and also - there are not that many cyclists on many...

Petition to increase speed assist limit on E bikes

Hmmm Ok - maybe I have given the wrong impression - if so then I apologise In my opinion anyone who can keep any bike running along fast enough to past 'me on my ebike' with ease has my respect Even if they are on an expensive road bike, riding on the drops and wearing Lycra - well done! - keep...

What to plug in first when charging the battery

My wife's bike is a Carrera - the instruction say you should charge it with the on/off switch set to ON - but it seems to charge fine if you forget I assume - based on little evidence - that having the switch ON enables the BMS to balance the cells or something

Petition to increase speed assist limit on E bikes

This has cropped up on other ebike forums - the majority seem to be against it just like last time - which wasn;t all that long ago Personally I shall be keeping an eye on it and if it gets to the 10,000 target I shall write (OK email) my MP - and possibly the Green Party encouraging them to...

    Incorrect speed readings issue (Bosch)

This may be a bit obvious and unlikely but is there any way another magnet is getting near the sensor - that would affect the reading

    theft of electric bikes

It is a very good point that if the Government and councils want people to start cycling into towns and cities more then they need to provide far more places where a bike can be parked in a more secure manner. CCTV on better designed parking would be a good start - my local TESCO has a...

What to plug in first when charging the battery

Very interesting thread Sounds like it depends on your specific bike Personally I have had 4 ebikes (old one, wife's one, one that failed and current one) and I have checked in 2 of the manuals and none of them actually mention a specific (or recommended) sequence I shall be checking on...

    theft of electric bikes

If you leave your bike in the same place every day - especially if there are lots of other bikes there - then a thief can plan a bit and turn up with appropriate kit such as an angle grinder and bolt cutters If you leave it in a very public area where there are seldom many bikes - and they are...

    Bosch planned obsolescence

I read somewhere that they use plastic cogs for noise reasons more than anything else I would worry about replacing anything plastic with a metal copy - you could create wear related issues with other parts in the motor????

Am I nuts or is it possible?

That sort of range is no problem for a decent ebike Don't take too much notice of people saying stuff wears out with crank drives - I have gone over 3000 miles on mine and the LBS has just had it in to give a good check over before it reaches 1 year and bit of warranty go away - chain etc etc...
