Brighten up the forum a little :)

Don't worry, I'm wearing a helmet! This is part of a fabulous piece of public art called The Arrivall, which commemorates the Battle of Tewkesbury. It stands on a rounabout on the A38. Pass it everyday, but it always cheers me to see it when coming home...

    Smartmotion Bikes

I am thinking of retiring my Smarta Lx - after 16,000 miles (approx) -for something quieter, but as reliable and robust. Yesterday I tried two Smartmotion bikes at Take charge Bikes in Cheltenham. Was very impressed. Very `perky' motor. Anyone got any experience of these bikes - seems they are...

    Do NOT use if cycling.

Hair is like money. The problem isn't the quantity, it's the distribution.

Orange skyway cycle lane in Copenhagen

And the next thing you know, there is no-one cycling, so you sack the line painter. Job well done!

Orange skyway cycle lane in Copenhagen

"Designed by an architect" The cycle lanes around here are designed and supplied by a bloke with a paint brush and a can of white paint. And he only works part time. In summer. How did the Danes get it so wrong?

    Another Scam Warning

Best way is just say you haven't got a computer. Some of my clients have tried to tie up the hoaxers, only to find that they get calls in the middle of the night.

    Cycle Paths

Neighbour's moggie Jimmy (James Evilkatt on Facebook) has habit of lying down in front of bike, daring you to try to move. If you do, he sticks his tail into the wheel! Cat's tail soup anyone?:D

Road closed, but not to roadies

Agree totally, john h. It was the same with the Olympics. Beware anyone promising a Legacy. It is a cheque in the post.

Road closed, but not to roadies

Tewkesbury High St this morning. Road closed for occasional market. Traffic diverted adding maybe 1 minute to average car journey. Up come Larry and Linda Lycra. Do they follow diversion? No. Do they get off and push? No.Do they slip down a side alley and use the backroad? No. Ride straight...

Possibly the most hideous electric bike...ever!

Yes, but if it's bought by someone it will be on the road where it may offend thousands of people. It may be bought by your neighbour! Best if it is left unsold in a garage somewhere, out of sight, out of mind.:)

    Bristol Show

I'm with you on this. There is a huge and bitter argument about a supposed bike race. Now I ride a Smarta LX8, a hugely heavy copy of a Dutch roadster which is totally reliable (15K miles over 4 years) but would never be described as fast, even by its mother. Yet it won the World Championship in...

Legal bike how to chose between them?

Comfort, comfort and comfort. Strictly in that order. If you are comfortable on a bike you will ride it. If it is a pain in the bum, knee, back or anywhere else you won't. So try first, not just a ride round a car park, but several miles, on mixed roads, as a minimum.

61, Over weight and Unfit from South Wales :)

If you want to lose weight buy a bike without a throttle; much to tempting to just rely on the motor.

    Premium Brands

Depends what you mean by Premium. If longevity matters then I suspect that Dutch bikes (Sparta/Gazelle etc) will outlast many.

Possibly the most hideous electric bike...ever!

It looks a lot like a Thompson, only orange. There are a lot of Thompsons round here which seem to carry on for ever. If the seller could re-spray it, it might sell.

    fastelectricbike

I don't think the discussion was ever about strict legality, it was about what may happen in the event of an accident involving a bike capable of running at speeds of 30 MPH on an electric motor. The consequences for the rider would differ depending on whether that bike was registered/insured...

    fastelectricbike

""there's loads of people interested in what you've done, and a few that react any time they see something they're jealous of" Not jealous. I'm afraid. My non-electric bike is even slower than my electric one, and more fun. I have several concerns though about the use of fast ebikes: 1. They...
