    fastelectricbike

Or, you could just buy a pre-built moped, register and insure it. Then not only will it be more elegant, the brakes will be adequate and you won't lose your driving license if you get stopped.

    Electric cars

Umm, W Midlands police are slumming it. In Glos, large BMWs seem to be the police car of choice.

    New bike for serious commuting

I use a Smarta LX8 for my commute of approx. 24 miles return. I've had it for 4 years and it has gone through 2 tyres and a chain. The first 10Ah battery now only gives about 16 miles, so I bought a new 15Ah which I have never managed to flatten. The bike has a throttle. It is reliable as can...

    New bike? Open to suggestions.

My faithful Smarta LX8 is now 4 years old. It has done over 12000 miles but still runs fine. It is robust, comfortable, heavy and noisy. I am considering whether the Smarta should be either replaced with a new bike, or upgraded by changing the front motor and whatever else is required. Any...

Low power & light, or High power & heavy?

Powered speed limit on bike tracks is the same as on roads and other public areas 15.5MPH/25 KPH. If you're only going 7 kilometres speed is not really an issue.

    Bike Mirrors

B&M are excellent on upright/North Road bars. Come with two lengths and don't vibrate. Glass a bit small but otherwise fine. I have them on both my electric and non-electric cycles.

    Back on the road

8 weeks ago I had a Cardiac arterial bypass graft (CAGB, pronounced cabbage) as I had blocked arteries, probably the result of smoking (just give it up, please, everyone). Operation went fine and after 5 days was discharged from hospital to convalescent unit. Hospital provided transport a...

    Best choice?

As the OP is in Bristol, he might like to try one of the Smarta bikes at ETS. About as fashionable as longjohns in summer, but my LX8 has now done over 15,000 miles in 4 years. And won the World Ebike Championship! A bit over budget, but you can't beat it for value.

    Bit of a bummer.....

Six weeks ago, at 60, I had my first ever operation, a Cardiac Artery Bypass. This was a surprise as I had no symptoms and went to see the GP with sinus trouble. Well, it could not have been easier. Sedated and woke up next day in ICU feeling wonderful (morphine, I expect). Even had a picture...

Sorry Guys, this new format is not working for Kudos

"The cheaper Chinese bikes are OK for the average Joe who isn't a serious cyclist" The reason that a Dutchman hasn't won the Tour de France for some time is that they are too busy cycling. The reason that the British have done so well is that here use of a bike has been turned in to a...

Sorry Guys, this new format is not working for Kudos

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz My friends all drive Porches, I must make amends Sometimes on this forum I have a lot of sympathy for the the late, great Janis Joplin. My poor old Chinese copy of a Dutch Roadster (Smarta LX8) with all the weight and cheap bits really doesn't cut it. I...

    Battery not charging

Well, I can't explain this, but if anyone has got a few hours spare, they might give it a try. Connected the charger to the main battery, which had been flattened, light remained green, no charging. Tested charger voltage. Zero, not a flicker on the meter. Connected charger to spare battery...

    Battery not charging

If I press the test button on the battery no lights are shown I have swopped the fuse with that on my spare battery, made no difference. Charger...

    Bulgarian and Romanian Immigrants

We also have an aging `indigenous' poputation - including people from previous immigations - Caribean, Asian, Irsih etc. We desperately need young blood to maintain the balance of the population.
