Yes, I had noticed issues with these on the forum, I think it was the difficulty of fixing them that was the problem. Possibly better getting one with generic Chinese components, at least it is easy to fix if anything goes wrong. £500 is quite a low budget, but there are bikes on eBay / Amazon...

One thing I just noticed is that it is 3*7 gearing (so I guess it will be a freewheel). The motor hub wheel has an 8 speed cassette ! Can I use that and just use the top 7 gears of the 8 speed cassette ? Or do I need to buy a 7 speed cassette (if such things exist)

There's a few places that does 250w kits : Woosh, Yosepower PSWPower, topbikekit I would suggest a geared rear hub motor and put the battery on the downtube. Maybe a 48v kit for power

70-100 miles of delivery riding a day sounds incredibly tough, you will need something pretty heavy duty ! I would echo the idea of having a spare battery that you could swap over.
