    Old Giant struggles with hill.

I would also be interested in the "no load" speed (with the motor wheel lifted off the ground). I suspect this might be too high for strong hill climbing although the controller shunt mod will definitely help

Took a screenshot and used the Google photo editing wizardry, it's very faint on the listing :-)

It's not mid drive, but it does have a 20 amp controller and a heavy duty motor for climbing hills and good battery capacity. Depends what you are using it for, it's ideal for roads, light trails and tracks, not good for heavy duty mountain bike centre "black runs"...

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

I wondered if the fact that this is a 24v motor with a 36v battery would make the *no load" speed 50% higher, so at low speeds it would take this motor out of its efficient operating zone. I wondered as you approached the level 1 and 2 limit speeds, does a speed controller reduce the voltage or...

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

Just had a look on street view, doesn't look that steep. I think it's worth trying it on Level 1 or 2, please let us know the results

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

The only things I can think are the controller isn't supplying enough power or the motor is running too slow so is not in its efficient speed range and not outputting enough power. Shunt mod (search this forum) would be worth a try...

Does the controller specify a maximum current ?

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

1)What is the maximum current supplied by the controller ? Depending on your weight and how steep the hill then 36v 15 amps or 18 amps should give you a good amount of assist. Wondering whether a slower(201 max rpm) hub motor would be better for you

    Help! Battery Mounting Ideas

I think a seat post mounted battery would be ok when you were riding it, it is just below your centre of gravity. Not so good for pushing it about and putting it away. Would a downtube mounting be possible ? If not then rear rack as low as possible and as far forward as possible. There are...

    Help! Battery Mounting Ideas

Off on a slight tangent - but when I was test riding the bike for my mother in law (who is a lot lighter than me), I was really subjectively impressed how powerful the tiny AKM-75 motor was, given that it has relatively lowly torque claims. I tried comparing it on the Grin motor simulator to a...

    Help! Battery Mounting Ideas

I think the Samsung 21700 -50E celled batteriy bag is very light for a 36v 15Ah capacity battery, 2.2kg, the equivalent seat post battery would be a bit heavier and I like the fact I can put the controller in the battery bag., the same as @StuartsProjects . The disadvantage is the battery is...

    Help! Battery Mounting Ideas

Thanks everyone very much. So what I think I am going to do is get an L shaped sheet metal "bracket" and glue it to the inside of the bag with some zip ties running behind the bracket(so they will also get glued in place). I will then screw the bracket (and attached bag) to the front mounting...
