Whisper 905se Sport vs Kalkhoff Tasman

Superb bikes. That's going to be a tough decision - though a fun one. Give them both a good try out. Given what you've said already I think I'd probably put a bet on this one. Either way I can't see how you can go wrong as long as you're comfortable with the bike and thoroughly enjoy riding it...

Yes I do. It's the ultimate ideal dream setup and a great bit of engineering. Shame todays battery technology just isn't up to the task. As the Guru said in an a previous thread "not practical".

Totally agree Simon. I did choose a Cytronex and to be honest it's never been identified as an electric bike. I only got the comments when I told people. Not that I care since they were only light hearted. Great bikes for anyone. Fishingpaul - I think on balance I prefer the term E-Bike to...

    spotting other e-bikes

The only E-bikes I have ever seen out on the road are a couple of Powabyke shoppers. We are a minority group. Maybe we should have an Electric Pride parade. Could cut down on those "that's cheating comments". PS. Mobility scooters excepted. There's far too many of them on the streets.

Yeah the Gruber is stealthy (discreet except for the noise) and healthy (not much power) and one for the wealthy. Wisper though are reported to be reliable, well built and very well supported. Some of the them are doing exceptional mileage (no names) and hence some of the problems that get...

    Cytronex Trek 7300

No, they don't generate a lot of heat. I guess the cool air while cycling takes away most of the heat generated anyway. One other reason I charge in the morning is Mark reckons the battery performs better when warm just after charging. Not a lot in it but seems a bit more sprightly first thing.

    E-bike article in today's Guardian

Amazingly enough an opportunity for such did pass my way some time ago. It briefy flashed to mind but seemed inappropriate and a sure invitation to disaster - thank god. I've fallen seriously foul of much less - misunderstanding of course. PS. I believe it was a washing machine. I think the the...

    Cytronex Trek 7300

I'm assuming you mean letting the battery cool down before recharging every time. I don't believe I've ever heard that. Mind you I don't think I've ever taken the battery off the bike and recharged after a run anyway. Always ends up being done the next morning - one of the beauties of a very...

    Cytronex Trek 7300

Yes. Except the bog standard bit. The front light is a seperate entity. Looking at the LED "tube" almost looks likes it has some dental orthodontic pedigree. Certainly no fibre though.

    Cytronex Trek 7300

I had a look on the internet earlier in the year and couldn't find anything. Being it's part of the Cytronex system I doubt Cytronex will be forthcoming. I thought nothing of it when I first had the bike but found it a surprisingly good gadget in the dark winter months. I'm surprised that...

It's the motor, I think, some people have the big problem with. Probably because you're on the road with a motor and not paying road tax, insurance etc etc. Except most of us are and with the car sat on the drive at home not taking the road space up or damaging the roads or risking an insurance...

    Cytronex Trek 7300

BTW you'll find that as it gets colder and down to single figures you can expect the speedo to start getting more erratic and finally give up the ghost while you're cycling into work sometime in December. It's a speedo battery thing and it all starts fully working again when it warms up a bit.

    Cytronex Trek 7300

The rear light doesn't flash it's constant. The lights being Busch & Miller are quality and very bright and of course run off the bottle battery. The front light is very impressive. Best thing though is the on/off switch on the handlebars so you can switch them on easily while you're cycling...

    Cytronex Trek 7300

Hi Jerry - Good to hear your purchase was a good one. The bike sounds great. I recall that the Cytronex 7300 was not just built because of difficulty sourcing 7.3FXs but because some people had comfort issues. The 7.3FX is quite a hard ride. The 60 PSI 35c tyres rather than the 32c on the 7.3FX...

Front wheel hubs motors v's rear wheel

No problems experienced with the Tongxin nano front hub which is a relative lightweight. Wheel size 700 X 32. I've never heard of the extra weight of front forks causing handling issues.

just found my next ebike project...

Great project and a nice twist on the combining camper van with bicycle holiday thing. Perhaps you could try holidaying in the alps  That would make for a most interesting post if you survived the downhill stretches.

    Cytronex Trek 7300

No problem if it doesn't I can always copy you. Nice bike (I was very impressed with it's looks when I saw it down at Winchester when I bought my 7.3FX last year). The front suspension should be great.

    Cytronex Trek 7300

Here's a link you may have seen. I keep meaning to do the deep discharge myself. I have about the same mileage as your 7300. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/3710-cytronex-first-2000-miles-2.html#post48616 Did you get the Cytronex instruction?. 4 sides of A4.
