Happy pedalling all - haibike problem

That is what I was talking about with the statement 'It is worth bearing in mind that the reason these batteries go into these faults in the first place is a safety mechanism that is preventing a potential battery fire in the first instance. I think it is highly unlikely that one of these...

Happy pedalling all - haibike problem

This voltage is just leakage, the actual voltage isn't seen until the battery is turned on. The aftermarket manufacturer won't be using the same switching mechanism (FET?) as Yamaha so can't really be compared. The voltage will collapse when a load is applied unless the Yamaha controller has...

Happy pedalling all - haibike problem

Shame it's East Germany, I could have dropped it off if it was on my way to Austria. I don't understand whay you mean by 'nothing the display doesn't even light all blocks like my broken battery'. + and - won't give a true voltage until comms are activated by the controller. If only the battery...

Fingers crossed. Where in Germany does the battery need to go?

Haibike sDuro Hardseven Battery Protection Activated

Correct. No spares are available, your only hope that I know of is via the German forum indicated earlier. Users Gamerpaddy and Cosas have reverse engineered this and can help but you do need to be sure what is going on with your motor(s) before connecting a replacement battery.

Haibike sDuro Hardseven Battery Protection Activated

I doubt very much that the motor on the second bike has a problem. You will most likely find you have an AFE fault logged, you can get this just with a multimeter probing in the wrong place. The comms line has maybe been connected to incorrect voltage/ground due to a motor controller failure...

Haibike sDuro Hardseven Battery Protection Activated

What were the circumstances when the batteries died? Unfortunately you can't reset unrecoverable errors. The manual for tne system can be found at https://www.manualslib.com/manual/975488/Yamaha-X94-Series.html It would be interesting if you could look at the error diagnosis section and tell us...

    When to replace tyre?

There is a distinct possibility the rim is damaged too. If there is any deformation it may crack with time and repeated flexing.

Battery upgrade or charging on the go

You can fit another battery in parallel but you must make sure the voltages are very close before connecting. I have a 10s3p with 3500mah cells, nearly doubles the range of my 400wh battery for an extra 1.6 - 1.7kg.

Happy pedalling all - haibike problem

The Germans have seen it, it also dies if you start messing about with multimeter probes in the communications connection.

Happy pedalling all - haibike problem

I guess the cells in the battery are worth something to someone who could replace the BMS and use it on a non Yamaha bike. The alternative is to PM Gamerpaddy and Cosas and see what they have to say, I guess one of them will give you a schematic and program for the Arduino. Then you just need...

E-bike disassembly for travel on European trains

When I have seen bikes with suspension forks in bike bags the forks have been removed. Hopefully not necessary but not the end of the world if you have to. When I put my bike in the boot the forks have to come off. You will probably need to remove the pedals too. Have some spacers available to...

Happy pedalling all - haibike problem

Because it is a closed system with its own communication protocol. The motor needs to communicate with the BMS (it is not a simple BMS like a Chinese battery ) before it will switch on. There are no spare parts available and even if there were you couldnt repair it live, as soon as yo remove...

Happy pedalling all - haibike problem

The voltage drops when you apply a load because the battery is not turned on. It is only a small (probably designed in) current that you are measuring, as soon as you apply any load it collapses. That is why if I have had my extender battery disconnected I fit thè main battery and switch the...

Replacement battery for Raleigh Stow e Way

I think you will find that battery has communications and cannot just be replaced with a 'normal' battery. You may be able to get it recelled.
