Can they do that , legally? Seems like a good idea though. You keep the bike, we keep the kit 'cos that's the illegal bit.

    Help! My next project

Just been to my favourite seaside cafe, Kerallan fish curry - I thankyou. So it's a climb out of this valley, down into the next, climb out then down to the coast. I can now confirm that if I pedal at over 19/20mph (with or without brake) there will be a delayed and slow re-application of power...

Once again the big misunderstanding being officially propagated that will lead to trouble for all of us with lcd3's.

    Help! My next project

The way this occurs, I could see that a spinning mass that has inertia might be playing a part - somehow. As per my post 214, pedalling overspeed downhill produces the 'bug'/fault condition. As the wattage display is at zero whilst doing so, it is hard to see how/why it is getting a rotation...

    Help! My next project

Weather and work committments just allowed me a 20 mile ride. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it, though I will do some more testing before I draw conclusions. I have tried four test parameters. 1 Pedal dowhill overspeed (18/19mph+), no brake feathering. Seems to produce the 'bug'...

    More Seizures

Crossed with Sparksandbangs post The first bike he looks at (which is obviously an illegal motor) he says' "you can tell it's a thousand watts" whilst pointing at the wattage shown on the display. Oh dear, we are all in trouble. Trying to explain why that is wrong, at the roadside in a stop...

    Help! My next project

Yet to be further tested Matthew. Thanks Roger, this is part of what I'm trying to establish. I am contemplating getting in touch with the supplier but the thought of trying to explain this in simple translatable English is daunting.

    Help! My next project

Looks like Anotherkiwi came to the same no pedal conclusion. The two bikes he lists both have KT controllers. If the bug (let's call it that) is happening, then there is zero watts displayed. When it does decide to kick in it is around 50-80watts very slowly ramping up to pas level. One of my...

Got a cargo/Fat tyre Ebike 250watt are you sick of being told to get of cycle lanes and being shouted at by the uneducated

I have a large, sonorous and friendly sounding Pashley ding dong bell. Many walkers have commented on what a lovely bell it is. Of course it's bloody useless for ear bud wearers or morons with 500w stereos in the car.

    Help! My next project

Now we're getting to it. The whole nub of the problem is this infuriating intermittant delay. I run two 14.5Ah batteries in parallel, both made by Jimmy. My charging diaries tell me one is on 256 charges the other on 167. None of those will have been full cycle charges. They have been...

    Help! My next project

Thanks Saneagle. I'm not sure I fully understand but it seems then that the system is working as it should. If this is so then it is hugely disappointing as it makes it impractable for the many V shaped bottoms with steep climbs out that I encounter. I'm not looking for great speed here but...

    Help! My next project

Just been for a noodle around the village hills. I can confirm that raising C14 to 3 does indeed raise the power level of pas settings 1-4. i.e. now pas level 1 delivers 115w instead of 80. What I think I've now reliably observed is this: If I coast downhill without pedalling at speeds above...

    Help! My next project

Oooer. Did take a look at that thread but it had lost me by the second post. Controllers are a black box to me. I'll have to leave your brain fart question to those more technically educated than myself but, as far as I can see, being a geared hub the AKM can't be dynamo ing, can it? As for...

    Help! My next project

Well here's a thought experiment. When pedalling at/around cut off speed the displayed wattage can go down to zero then will flick between that and 10-15w (almost as though there's a check going on). When speed drops power comes back in displaying 80-150ish w no matter the pas level setting...

Got a cargo/Fat tyre Ebike 250watt are you sick of being told to get of cycle lanes and being shouted at by the uneducated

What's a cycle path ? Round here we don't even get paint on the road. There has, however, been quite a few big blue signs put up teeling motorists to leave 1.5m to a bike. Got to say they do seem to be working - mostly.

    Help! My next project

Tried it both ways (careful !), when going down a main road, good surface straight bit at 35mph, one is certainly not pedalling. Having read the C14 notes again and trying to decipher further, it seems to be referring to the relative strengths of assistance levels 1-4, with 5 still being power...

    Help! My next project

Leaping sideways, like a top flight goal keeper, and plucking at this straw as it wizzes by in a gale force wind - there is some sort of regen setting in the display (instructions written in chinglish of course), however it's an AKM geared hub so there can be no regen.

    Help! My next project

Nah, stops pretty much straight away, almost as quick as a new government drops it's manifesto promises..........oops! I think I should point out that the WTF PLC programming on KT is carried out by button pushing alone without the need for a programming cable and laptop :cool:

Pas is very quick. When mounting it has kicked in before ones even got ones leg over ! Pretty good for a septegenarian me thinks.

    Help! My next project

That's right, that's the problem. Nothing at all until it decides, in it's own good time (and without apparant pattern), to slowly ramp back in.
