    My New Build

I keep getting spammed by these on Aliexpress - very handy for hiding a controller and wires if you're going to have a front motor. Personally, I'd go for a rear motor because of the simpler wiring with everything apart from the LCD on the back half of the frame.

Lishui Controller Modification - Firmware Flash Project

Thanks for that. What a brilliant idea. I'll put a couple in my freezer right now. I like your creative thinking. I can see how you got to be where you are. Like everything, you just need the know-how and a creative mind!

Lishui Controller Modification - Firmware Flash Project

The difference is the polish. You start with a turd, then polish it. Afterwards, it looks nice and shiny.

Pretty step through and no maintenance!

They sell the Raleigh Motus in Halfords. If you join the Cycling UK first for about £50 a year last time I looked, you get free 3rd party insurance and a 7% discount from Halfords, which would be around £140 off. Also, halfords often give there own discounts on bank holiday weekends, which is...

    Battery Rack for 20" Wheel

If you look at how the battery slides in to the one you've shown, you can see that the battery holding plate is independent from the rack. It's just screwed to it. That's also true of other batteries and their holders. In that case you can fix the battery mechanism to any normal rack, which is a...

    Internal speedometer hall sensor broken

Two possibilities I can think of: 1. It's being interfered with by the magnetic field from the coils either directly or by current induced into the white wire; 2 There's cable damage causing cross-over between the phase wires and one or more of the sensor wires. Considering that it already blew...

why is this even up for debate?

I could tell you, but it's a secret, and I pinky swore that I'd never tell anyone, least of all you.

Sorry, I didn't know you were there and saw it. Why didn't you report it to the police?

    Ikea ebike controller

It's OEM only. You have to ask Ikea where to get one from. Are you sure it's faulty? They don't normally go wrong. If you can't get one, you have to replace it with a standard Chinese one with LCD.

Roadrat Alfine 8 with G370 hub build.

A 250w crank-motor loads the chain with up to around 5 times the force of a normal rider. A BBS01/2 also runs on a bit, so when you pause to change gear, the motor is still going and the chain is still loaded. They get round that by fitting a gear shift sensor, but a lot of people find that it...

why is this even up for debate?

The story migh be that a couple of guys had had a few drinks, saw the cyclist and thought it might be a laugh to bump him off the road. In that case, stealth might have been an advantage. The guy was wearing a yellow dayglow reflective jacket. It was the sleeveless type with the reflective...

    Ebike battery renewal

Yes. They might be a good choice if you're totally vain, weigh 7 stone and can afford four of them so that you can have standing replacements for when each one breaks down, bearing in mind that the waiting ones will breakdown if you leave them too long without use, so probably a good idea to...

    Ebike battery renewal

The battery is bespoke and has very low capacity and power. The controller is bespoke and very low power. The torque sensor is very hard to replace if you get any problems with it. Basically, the whole bike is shite. It's low power, low range and virtually impossible to fix just so that somebody...

Which Vintage style custom / cruiser is best for general fun.

If you already had a few electric bikes and you just want one to show off once a year at a show or show your mates down the pub once, such a bike is a great idea, but if you want an ebike for ridin g around on, you're going to wish you had an ordinary one. My advice is to get an Amazon 48v 250w...

Should have bought gold. It's gone up massively since you bought that. In 2020 a silver Britannia was about £29. Today it's £33.50. That's +16%. In 2020 a gold Britannia was £1400. Today, it's £2600. That's +86%. Also, there's no VAT on gold, so you get a better price when you sell it.

Fitting bigger capacity battery to a Swytch gen2 kit

I worked for Keiper Recaro. We made seats and seat mechanisms, both manual and electric for Ford, Vauxhall, Rover, Toyota, Jaguar and RR. I did the Ford Q1 assessors certificate and ISO 9000 Lead assessors certificate so that I could give as much as we got during their assessments. Were you...

Which Vintage style custom / cruiser is best for general fun.

I think you'd get more fun with a normal ebike that you can use for shopping, commuting, touring and anything you want. A cruiser type is pretty inefficient and doesn't offer any advantages at all if you're pragmatic. It seems weird to me to limit the use of your ebike, just because you want it...
