    another wisper clone??

    :D lol - score!

    Cyclamatic foldaway

Wisper have a high/Low pedelec switch box, and I believe that some kits also have variable power settings. TBH though, I've found the best solution has been to leave it in Low mode (I have a Wisper 905se BTW), and vary the power with he throttle, it takes a little practise but ultimately...

I'm still on my conti top contact winters, and I must say they've been absolutely bullet proof so far. (oh no - I've said it now:eek: )

    going more than 15mph

I'm glad to hear that there's a shift in attitude toward cycling, from little acorns and all that:) . It's sad that there should be such an inconcistency in public feeling, with so many people being killed in car crashes regarded as acceptable, yet the notion of some mostly non fatal...

    going more than 15mph

Well, much in the same way that the police will do rudimentary checks on a car when the driver has been pulled for speeding (lights/tax etc.), such things as speedos could be regarded as secondary offences, and thus the rider's responsibility to maintain. Also any imposed speed limit for cycle...

Then have a lower limit for cycle paths...and make it a legal requirement for ebikes to have speedometers. I think I'm with Flecc on this one, that there has to be an element of self responsibility and control involved.

    going more than 15mph

Another thing that's occurred to me is that a 20mph limit would make the law easier to enforce, I know this may sound odd, but bear with me :D . A fit cyclist can push a relatively heavy ebike with an assistance limit of 15mph to 20mph, but I believe that wind resistance and weight would...

    going more than 15mph

Even so I think I'd still rather see kids pimping up their ebikes than tarting up cheap cars in which they could do a lot more damage. At least on a bike the rider is somewhat more vulnerable in a collision than when they're enclosed in a metal box, with all the perceived immortality of youth...

I know! But then what are we going to do with all the lithium we've dug up? :)

This battery looks good for the future

Brilliant! I wonder if you could build a bike frame out of it...:)

I do appreciate a good sense of perspective - don't you? Helps to see the relative significance of things, and say, in the final analysis "hang the sense of it, being happy is the best we can hope for" :)

    going more than 15mph

:D Well, I'm sorry I'm the one to have to tell you this, but....umm, no-one's actually built a working light-sabre yet...... Maybe I should have said "not yet possible" - damn, semantics are such a minefield aren't they? :D

    going more than 15mph

As a lighting technician, who often works with utterly non-technical creatives and administratives, I know only too well the need for an interpretive ability in order to convey the point of complex ideas to those who have no need of interest in the reasons behind them (usually about why it's...

    going more than 15mph

So would the ideal hub motor have two sets of internal gears to cover the normally used speed ranges, and stay efficient for more of the time? I know it'd make the design a lot more complicated, but surely it could be done.

    going more than 15mph

So guys, about this inertia thing then :D Surely there comes a point when accelerating under power that the inertia of the bike plus rider is overcome by momentum, and mightn't this account for the sense of increased torque/power/that surging feeling in the seat of the pants, quite often...
