    Cyclamatic Power Plus Owners club

So with all that said, maybe this thread can get back onto topic, with some detailed reviews of these bikes?

    Cyclamatic Power Plus Owners club

Many of us, even with the more expensive bikes, have made preference changes to the standard kit that our bikes came with. As cycling is such an individual experience, much more so than say driving, because it is intrinsically bound to our own physical form, I say if the bike you own works for...

    Chainring upgrade how many teeth

Last year, I upgraded my chainring from a 48t to a 53t, the difference for me is enough that I now ride a gear lower than I used to, and never run out of gear in 7th. I used this handy tool to work out what effect it would have, btw.

    A Cyclamatic conundrum?

LOL :D You know what I love about this forum? It's the fact that most of the time it's not filled with the usual reactionary, hyper-sensitive nonsense so often seen elsewhere, and that one can actually have an adult debate about points of mutual interest..... As DW implies, I doubt anyone...

    Selecting a saddle

Sorry to take this off on a tangent, but I've been using WTB saddles for years, and think they're brilliant. Mine is an '09 version of the v-race pure (which seems to be on offer at the moment), btw.

New e-bike in my stable...iZip Via Mezza Enlightened

The connectors, including the motor multicore connector, look identical to what is found on the Wisper, I've never had a problem with these in any kind of weather, and have ridden through hundreds of puddles. One really cheap solution for waterproofing I saw recently on youtube, is to use...

    Bargain Wisper 950se ?

The plot thickens....:D I did wonder if there was some connection, what with New Milton and Sway being in the same area...sounds like a perfectly innocent sell off of old stock to me. What will be interesting to hear, for the rest of us Wisperers, is how the battery has fared, being...

    what electric bike?

As others have said, your choice is between a crank drive and a hub drive, and that's really a matter of personal taste. If it were me, then I'd go for hub driven as they're mechanically simpler, and perfect for a mainly flat commute, though my wisper is no slouch on the hills either :D ...

Cyclamatic Power Plus Electric Bike £399

Well, seems to me that China is following a very western tradition of wealth accumulation, but where we did it by subjugating whole nations within the empire, they have the land mass and population to do it internally. It wasn't so long ago that here in the UK we were ripping off large parts of...

This is where I came in.....

Maybe the Lycras that accuse us of cheating should try it without the ultra light road bikes, carrying luggage, and with somewhere to go, rather than riding round in circles for the sake of it :D . Bit of a generalisation I know - but hey, I couldn't resist ;) . I think the cheating thing is...

This is where I came in.....

It's a shame that this point would be very hard to market IMO, as it's pretty fundamental to getting people hooked on any form of personal transport. The motor manufacturers have it easy with their top speed and 0-60 stats, as they're something that's easy to imagine without having experienced it.

    PiCycle

I still like the look of the Pi, I imagine it'd be akin to riding a Harley for a motorcyclist, big, substantial, and great for just cruising along... This, or something like it, could be just the thing to overcome the mainstream's general phobia of personal effort (voluntary effort I...

This is where I came in.....

I've a theory about this: that the more physical work, attention you have to pay & in touch with the road you are (lack of suspension etc.), the lower the speed required to have an equivalent amount of fun (if fun is quantifiable). So maybe, 15mph on an unpowered bike = 20mph on an ebike =...

    Cranks and pedals

Hmmm, maybe they'd run out, or beeen in the middle of changing supplier when they built my bike - oh well... BTW, the Sinz cranks are great, no creaks, no clicks, and as they're made for BMX, I'd guess pretty strong too. Oh, and the anodised finish is as good as new after several months' use...

    PiCycle

:D quite, I was just talking about the connector, at least you can fit a propper rack to the Pi ;) .

    Nice, chunky, but nice :)

    Cranks and pedals

Any square taper compatible arms will be fine, but beware of the really cheap ones. I made this mistake when swapping to a larger chain-ring, the replacement was not a good fit and it creaked/clicked from day one. If you want to replace both sides then you'll need to get a new chain-ring to...

    PiCycle

Indeed, it does seem that when it comes to details like connectors, the manufacturers tend to use the most expedient solution to hand rather than having the ideal custom made. I suppose this is because the market simply isn't big enough to warrant the cost in R&D on an individual level. I would...

    PiCycle

Not for it's own sake, I agree, but it can be a useful starting point. With our current wealth we have the capacity to experiment, and explore diverse concepts, rather than being tied to linear development out of necessity.

    PiCycle

Yeah, but have you seen the new desk fan? Extraordinary concept:) . Maybe his ebike would be part bike, part ground effect plane - with integral cyclone power, of course :D Oh, and it'd have to provide a public service by sweeping the roads clean as it went...
