Brompton Sparticle with latest Suzhou Bafang motor (8-Fun)

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it seems as though they've missed a trick as the version for rear wheel use still appears to have a spindle entry cable, and so is still only freewheel rather than cassette compatible :( I suppose they thought that the ability to use disc brakes was more important...

How do I wire up eCrazyman controller to Tongxin please

Maybe we should start a campaign for standardisation in the industry. I suppose the BEBA could put it on their agenda? If enough OEMs and retailers demand it, the component designers are bound to follow. This is what happens in virtually every other technical industry, computer manufacturers...

    Wisper 905

When I got my 905SE, the manual simply said that the seccond position was not implemented on this model. My guess is that the keyswitch was simply the best available when they went into production, and that it was cheaper to use the the two position version rather than get a single position...

Where can I find this bike?

With a bit of lateral thinking involving the ground plan of the show ;) I've discovered that it's made by a German company called Winora, and is called the Town:e XP (I think). YouTube Link Online Presentation Blurb: Contact Details: Winora-Staiger GmbH Max-Planck-Strasse 6/8...

New to e-bikes - Buying decision - Help Needed

I'd equate riding my 905se without power to riding one of the heavy old dutch bikes, fine once you get going, but not very quick off the mark :) I haven't tried riding it without the battery though, and this would make it a fair bit lighter. I think you'll find that all e-bikes suffer in...

New to e-bikes - Buying decision - Help Needed

Why not look at getting a Wisper with the smaller 8Ah battery? This would easily cover your range requirement, has a powerful motor, with throttle control & of course has the 'off road option' for a few more mph.

    Yike Bike

Oh it's got pedals - they just don't move :D Hopefully, what with the rapid sucession of inventions like this, the current law will be deemed unfit for purpose and undergo a complete overhaul - hopefully.... This would allow for some decent competition and inovation, and maybe stop...

why brake pads worn out in quick time

Personally I clean the rims when I hear this noise, as it preserves both the blocks and the rims, a cloth and a standard degresing kitchen cleaner does the trick. I also use these blocks: Clarks V Brake Insert Pad | Clarks | Mtb | Brakes I find them hard wearing, and they're designed to clear...

    Schwalbe Tyres

I agree, one eye for the traffic, the other for the surface, with the agility of bicycles it's realy not that hard to avoid the pitfalls and potholes :) Very soon riding like this becomes second nature, and hence I can't remember my last puncture (touches all the wood in view :D ). Not...

905se battery break in. How empty is empty?

Well, this is what David from Wisper has to say: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/4166-breaking-new-li-battery-deep-shallow-cycle.html#post53884 So I'd take from this that you've discharged it enough by the sounds of things.

    new aliens

need for speed I have to say that I'm somewhat divided on this, part of me thinks that human beings should be intelligent enough to use powerful vehicles responsibly, and so physical restrictions ought to be irrelavant in an enlightened society. On the other hand I've seen too many prats...

    Whisper Grips

I found the floppy end a bit weird at first as well, but the tradeoff between that and not getting numb little fingers after half an hour was a no brainer. It was one of the best and cheapest mods on my Wisper 905se, the softer rubber motorcycle grips completely elimimated all discomfort, and...

    Whisper Grips

Would a generic thumb throttle be any better? You'd lose the power button, and the wiring would need some investigation, but with the keyswitch on the battery I don't suppose this is an essential.

See this post: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/electric-bicycles/4078-wipser-905se-owner-review.html?highlight=wisper+grips#post52792 Looks like the sort of thing you're talking about.

    battery or controller fault?

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you're measuring the voltage on the same colour wire, this would give you the reading of near 0v, measure it between the red and the black as this is what you've effectively done at the battery.

    battery or controller fault?

On your multimeter, there should be a musical note symbol and/or a line with an arrow on it, switch the selector to this. You'll find that if you touch the probes together, the meter will beep. This is telling you that current is flowing between the probes, so to test a cable for electrical...

    battery or controller fault?

If the 1.5v reading is before the power actualy goes through the controler, then it is an all but complete break in the cable from the battery. I'd try a continuity test of the cable, then check it for damage, lastly opening/rewiring the connectors.
