I've found that keeping the pedelec power set to low, and then just using the throttle to increase the power gives me a lot more control, and means I use the brakes far less, particularly in traffic cues etc. I agree that coasting up to junctions is definately the way to go. You can do this...

    E-bike standardisation anyone?

I don't think we need to have a connector type specificaly invented for e-bikes, rather an existing connector to be adopted by the industry as a whole for a specific task. I.e. all DC chargers using the same connector, same for all motors etc. This way, when people need to replace them, the...

    E-bike standardisation anyone?

So that was my two-penneth worth, does anyone else have any ideas to make e-biking more attractive/accessable to those who currently see it as a rather geeky oddity?

    Wisper battery

As these options were the deal closer for me, my vote is to leave the decisions with the customer (we are always right after all :D ). As for the range argument, I don't think you've mis-sold your machines by claiming they will do over 50 miles no matter what, your literature simply states that...

    E-Bike Seating Positions

Certainly, I think raising the bars slightly, if you can, will help. I also found that changing the grips for something with a bit more give and vibration absorbtion made a lot of difference when I had the exact problem you're describing. There's also the possibility of wearing a decent pair of...

    E-bike standardisation anyone?

Well thank god - I thought it was just me :) I really do think it's time the industry stepped up to the challenge of realising the pottential for their buisiness, for the benefit of everyone. As things stand, I think the current variability, and so uncertainty can only serve to put people off...

    E-bike standardisation anyone?

Ok, I admit this is pretty 'dry' stuff, but I do feel that the point's important enough to be raised. It stems from a thought I had about getting the e-bike 'out of the shed' in terms of personal customisation, and turning it into a ubiquitous everyday item, such as the home pc, with easy...

    Wisper battery

Yep, that's what I took to be the serial no. 36v seems to be the nominal rating, but when they're fully charged, they actually output close on 42v.

    E-bike standardisation anyone?

I see what you're saying, but most components are common, particularly when it comes to hub driven bikes, more so when it comes to basic controls and connectors. After all, all the motors are DC, all the brakes have switches, all the throttles work by feeding a variable control voltage to the...

    Choosing the Right Frame Size

I agree that the bike should adapt to suit you, rather than the other way around. In this regard, I'd like to say that my Wisper 905se is the best bike I've ever ridden, the short frame with a resonably long seat stem make it easy to adjust for a variety of leg lengths, and the adjustment on the...

    E-bike standardisation anyone?

I'd like to start a discussion about the lack of common standards of manufacture and interface between the components of e-bikes. It seems to me, that if there were say a standard connector and wiring configuration (& control voltages etc.) for brake lever cut-outs & throttles, then it would...

    Wisper...better riding position.

Yes, the ideal I believe is to have your knee just unlocked when the pedal is nearest the ground. This way you get the maximum power/range of movement, without impacting the knee joint. I'd agree that handlebar adjustment is the way to go, all about positioning your weight so it's comfortable...

    Wisper battery

Yes, 30 miles - maybe a little more, would be my estimate. I've never run it to cut out though - too lazy to get stuck without power, and have to lug the thing home :D I weigh in at around 14st btw, though I do carry quite a heavy pannier as well.

    Wisper battery

This may be model dependant, as my frame no. is embossed just below the Logo on the front of the bike i.e. just above the forks, and the battery s/n is engraved on the very underside of the battery. I have a 2008 version of the 905se btw.

    Wisper battery

A while ago, David from Wisper mentioned that they had bought some very slow rate chargers that they were willing to loan to customers, so that they could refresh their batteries. I think this may well be worth a go as it certainly sounds like your battery isn't holding enough charge. My...
