    Hi everyone.

D8evh and Saneagle have often been in the same room, and many forum members have seen us together. We were both at the Tour de Presteigne, the Redbridge show and the World Championships in Bristol, Bike shows plus several other events. I'm pretty sure that there are photos of us together...

    Wheel change on 2014 bike

Motors aren't much better than each other. They're all very reliable. Size matters. The bigger they are, the more power they can handle. There ar exceptions to that: Most AKM motors have a higher reduction ratio that allows them to run faster inside, so that gives a bit more power and torque at...

    Battery Fires

I think I've figured it out, either you're misunderstanding something or whoever published those figures did, or they misrepresented them. It's not 25 aEV fires per 100,000 EVs sold, it's 25 EV fires per 100,000 cars sold. If you accept that, everything adds up and cross-references OK, but then...

Making a torque throttle instead of a speed throttle for a cheap controller

The older Yose kits have KT controllers, which can do all that in the settings. If you have one of the later crappy LiShui ones, the easiest solution would be change to KT.

Review of £360 Argos E-Plus bike

A great bike and great value, but totally illegal.

    Wheel change on 2014 bike

The bike is more than ten years old and Freego have disappeared off the face of the Earth, so I don't think he's too worried about the guarantee.

    Wheel change on 2014 bike

Just point to the serial number and say "Week 04 2014". It would still help to have some backup evidence to show that the throttle was fitted from new, like a review from 2014, forum posts. pictures or anything like that. As time goes on, you won't be able to find those things on the internet...

    Wheel change on 2014 bike

It's a rear motor, so won't fit in forks. Personally, I never use any sort of jig. I just do it on my lap until all the spokes are in, then I put it in the actual frame to finish it off, using a couple of cable ties to show where it needs truing. That way, you get the rim exactly in the middle...

    Yose power

It's the speed more than anything. Crank-drive works better at low speed. If your modal speed is going to be above or about 12 mph, a hub-motor is better. The Yose ones are optimised for 15 mph. You can get slower hub-motors optimised for low speed from the Chinese resellers, but I've never...

    Wheel change on 2014 bike

Changing the motor shouldn't change anything. Your bike is still a 2014 Freego Regency that had the throttle on it in 2014. What about when you change the tyre or the brake pads? Nobody cares about that, so I don't see why the motor would make a difference. Do you have an old forum post with a...

Review of £360 Argos E-Plus bike

The seat would go low enough, but I'm not sure about the reach to the bars. Some women don't like the lean forward position. I would say that it's perfect for a guy of around 5' 9". Anybody 3" either side would be able to ride it, but they might not find it ideal. Some would and some wouldn't...

    Yose power

If it's only for off-road riding, a crank-drive might be better. The Woosh 48v TSDZ2 kit is pretty good for that sort of thing, and their 48v TSDZ8 would cope with towing too. Hub motors are better for commuting and generally riding around.

Hex ratchet driver for 15mm ring spanner

Can you explain why you want one? I'm mystified because it doesn't make sense to me. It's nowhere near as convenient as a small rachet spanner, and is probably going to be more expensive. A 15mm spanner is an unusual size for anything else on an ebike. Do you have something on yours that needs it?

    Yose power

The problem is that you have less control over how hard you pedal because the motor is always giving all or nothing. The 15.5 mph speed limit makes no difference, because it's worse at low speed, and it's even worse on bikes with small wheels because of the higher motor torque and lower speed...

    Yose power

OK, in that case just about all kits have enough power. Each 1kg you add means you need 1% more power to get up hills, so a 105g rider would need 50% more power than you.

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

It was the whole drone, not the battery. The battery might have detached after the impact, but you can clearly see the drone inverted just above the car immediately after the impact. You can see it on the grill of the black car behind. The drone bounces of the red car, then falls to the left. It...

    TranzX W16 remote replacement

I know it doesn't help, but we always warn people off these types of bikes with proprietary systems. This is the problem you get years down the line, when fashions have changed. Best is unlocked systems with standard Chinese parts, next, if you must have a locked systen, is Bosch. After that...

    Ebike News

You can't post stuff like that. The "250w" guys will go nuts again. We've only just managed to quieten them down. I can hear it coming, "250w motors aren't meant to be that powerful. Mine can't do that, so that must be wrong". Something doesn't look right about the rider/driver. I'm not sure...
