    Grrrr

I used to like her old Mum. Wonderful old dear, with great taste in hats. Apparently she had a habit of going up to people at receptions and starting conversations with "Hello. You look like you could do with a drink." Top lady :)

    Practical Cycles

Top firm. Been around a while now and always had stuff of interest to those of us who use two wheels instead of four.

OK then ... how about Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha og Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg?

    Grrrr

Is that the same kind of "fact" as those being used to "justify" the HS2 white elephant?

Erm ... Windsor? They should go back to the original family name of Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha ...

Hah! Have a care, madam! I'll have you know that it's only 30 years since a rather butch lesbian friend of ours accused me of being a feminist!

    Please someone tell me why!!!

I once photographed a bride getting her slap on in her bedroom prior to her wedding. The makeup "artist", a young trollop who had an amazing muffin top hanging over the belt of her fake designer jeans, wore shades the whole time she was "working". When Miss Wonderful had done, the bride...

    Hydraulic Brakes

Hmmm. Interesting link. That's the first time in my life I've seen brake levers called "brake handles" ...

Yet Another London Cyclist Death Today

Anybody going to quibble about the omission of "almost certainly" before "could" in the second sentence? Or do we just accept that very rarely is this particular nail hit so well on the head on a cycling forum?

Let us say that you are stationary at the lights, having got there first, and a wagon pulls up alongside you on your right. The lights change. If you keep yourself out of harm's way by keeping that wagon ahead of you until it's clear of the junction, how can it squash you if it turns...

Yet Another London Cyclist Death Today

Whilst I have no recent experience riding a bike in London, I had to drive round various parts of it often enough in the 12 years to 2010. And I wouldn't mind a crisp tenner for the number of times I've seen exactly that sort of stupidity. My particular favourites were always the faux cycle...

    Multifuel woodburner stove?

If I remember rightly, it was somewhere in Germany. They're into their wood piles there. Do a Google image search for holzmiete

Yet Another London Cyclist Death Today

I have every sympathy for those affected by the death of any cyclist who is killed on our roads, and I'm not in any way seeking to excuse bad driving of any kind, but ... Is it not the case that in the real world, any cyclist finding themselves on the nearside of any vehicle at a junction...

Yet Another London Cyclist Death Today

Frankly I'm not surprised, unless you were smack bang in the centre of the road and there was room for cars to pass on your left. Certainly in this part of the world, most car drivers would take the fact that you had stopped signalling as meaning that you no longer intended to turn right.

    Selling my bike, test rides.

Maybe somebody could move this post for Robin?

    Saddles and septuagenarians

That's really weird. The saddles we have on both our Thorns and our Kalhoffs aren't branded "Specialised", but I'll swear they're exactly the same dog with different spots ...

    Saddles and septuagenarians

Gave in and got a B17 like all the evangelists recommended for my Dawes hybrid donkeys years ago, had no particular problems with it so got another one for the trailer tug, simply because I didn't know any better. Transferred the comfier one to my Thorn Sherpa when that replaced the Dawes...

    Multifuel woodburner stove?

FWIW we reckon that (a) the current Little Wenlock is a poor thing compared to the original ones and (b) anything with Morso on it is expensive for what it is. We also reckon that an awful lot of stove suppliers are full of schidt. After various mistakes, we've settled on a Clearview Pioneer...
