Recommend me an iPhone holder for middle of handlebars

Now that my partner & I are venturing out for longer rides I would find it very useful to use the maps & satnav on my iPhone while riding. I've been looking at various mounts & they all seem to fit on one side or the other of the handlebars. Are there any that mount in the centre? It seems...

Thinking now is it all worth while ?

The technology for 'ordinary bikes' has advanced an awful lot since that Claude Butler was built eg suspension forks & hydraulic disk brakes to name but two major improvements.

Thinking now is it all worth while ?

There are no issues with buying online. If you order online you legally can return the item for any reason within 14 days but I see that Halfords are now offering 90 days for returns. https://www.halfords.com/help-and-advice/customer-services/delivery-and-returns/returns-information/

    Bike Repair Stand

It's a good price. I didn't see any when I was in Lidl last week but in any case I bought this one from Halfords a couple of weeks ago. It was £45 but well worth it. I have never owned a bike workshop stand before & have been really impressed with how much easier the bikes are to work on using...

    Help! Speed limit unlock !!!

It might not have been his fault but the speed that he was travelling on an illegal bike surely contributed to the unfortunate lady's death.

Tyre pump... It's a beautiful thing!

My electric pump arrived yesterday. I agree with the OP it is a beauty. It has a Schrader valve connector & a Presta valve adaptor.

Tyre pump... It's a beautiful thing!

The price on Amazon was an extortionate £65 so I Googled & instead ordered from MoreComputers in Sheffield for next day delivery for £44.90...

Tyre pump... It's a beautiful thing!

I just tried to purchase one but unfortunately after overcoming the registration process of creating an account & verifying email address etc I am defeated by the idiotic delivery address widget which does an incorrect post code lookup & then cannot be edited. Instead of the correct address of...

Tyre pump... It's a beautiful thing!

I got a similar but much larger device for use with my car tyres some time ago & have just started using it on the bike tyres. I was just thinking today that I should look at getting a smaller device that I could carrier in my panniers along with spare tubes etc. It looks like this could be just...

    EBike repair stand recommendations

I too picked up a Halfords Bike Hut stand yesterday (only 5 minutes queuing though). It's brilliant. I've never owned a workstand before & it's so much easier to work on the bike & especially good with supporting the extra weight of an e-bike. Thanks for the recommendation.

    more bikes on road

Halfords didn't text me & there is no answer when I call. I'll try calling again tomorrow. Incidentally I was grateful when the chain snapped that my e-bike has a cadence sensor rather than a torque sensor as I was still able to cycle home under power just by keeping the pedals turning.

    more bikes on road

There were definitely more cars on essential journeys yesterday when we went out. Today we are joining them as the chain snapped on my Woosh-converted Boardman hybrid. It was the connecting link that broke. The last time I put a chain on was over 35 years ago on my Norton Commando but obviously...

    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

Don't forget how ridiculously cheap food is now. Forty or fifty years ago food was relatively a much higher proportion of the household budget (& housing cost a much smaller proportion).

UK petition to raise cut-off limit

Not just you. I too think a 15.5mph limit is absolutely fine & as flecc has pointed out there already is a legal route available for all those who want to ride a faster e-bike.

    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

When I was 16 I worked one summer as a pantry boy on the Fishguard->Rosslare ferry. While crockery & cutlery was washed up by me & the other pantry boy the chefs always washed up their own utensils & pans. I always assumed that it was so they could be sure it had been done properly. I'm sure...

    Cycling. Health. Covid. Diet.

Tim Harford (BBC Radio 4 More or Less & 50 Things That Made The Modern Economy) made the interesting observation that while his mother had plucked & gutted a chicken he never had but it was possible that his children wouldn't even prepare a mixed salad!

    Electric bike vs. folder

I had never ridden a step through high handlebar Dutch style bike until we rented a couple of electric bikes last year. It was an absolute revelation how much more comfortable & pleasant it was riding this style of bike. It’s no wonder they are so popular in the Netherlands parked up in their...

    Migrant workers

You can stop the spread of the virus by a severe lockdown perhaps even eradicate it if you lockdown early enough. New Zealanders can only leave their homes to walk, buy groceries or see a doctor. Even if eradication succeeds its borders will have to remain closed to the rest of the world to...
