New Andy kirby 15 min conversion kit looks good

Anybody challenging Swytch's absurd business model where you have to forward order now and maybe get your kit in 6 months gets my vote. £400-£450 seems keen, especially if it's going to be an in-stock item. Anybody else notice another flaw from AK's body-cam? As AK has it angled (so the front...

    throttle problem

On my Fiido D11 - my only e-bike with a throttle (thumb) - if you hold the throttle in the same position for several seconds it maintains that speed ("cruise"). You cancel it by either letting the throttle go and then giving it a quick press, or squeezing the brake(s) to activate the motor...

Following on from my introduction to this forum I have questions

We all had "silly" questions when new. The best way to learn about your e-bike is to get out there and ride it. So long as you master the brakes so you can stop, there's little damage you can do. I went out early on a Sunday morning and cycled a deserted cycle path... nothing to hit, no one to...

    Pendleton Somerby pre 2019

It's quite likely that a bike battery that's been sitting unused/uncharged since 2020 will be damaged by now. If you try the suggested jiggler keys to remove it, there are some battery repair guys around who may be able/prepared to open it up and test it for you to see if it can be recovered...

    Pendleton Somerby pre 2019

I've got two Phylion batteries, both from 2016, each rated 10.4Ah/374Wh, Samsung Pinkies. They still measure (very near) that on a full measured charge/discharge cycle. To be fair they don't get daily use, nor do I demand too much given their modest rated discharge. As often the case it depends...

    Help! Slight tweaking question

If upping the speed, the OP maybe needs to consider gearing too. The e-go looks fairly similar to my own 20" folder; 52t/14t, 7sp Tourney. Spinning gets pretty frenetic at/beyond 20mph.

    Pendleton Somerby pre 2019

Make date is often included/embedded within serial/model markings on (for example) the motor, controller label, or the serial number stamped into the bike frame itself.

    Pendleton Somerby pre 2019

The price may be a bit fruity, but IMHO it's not so bad. Phylion use pukka Samsung/Panasonic/LG cells. Being 8.8Ah it compares fairly well to say MiRiders Samsung 7Ah also at £300 or any Bosch/Yamaha et al using similarly branded cells. An original Phylion 11Ah version of the OP's battery in the...

    Pendleton Somerby pre 2019

Yes, but the battery maker/style changed in 2018/19. Newer Pendletons use a sleeved battery. Both Halfords and Yose sell both types.

Yes, sorry about that. Working with a new laptop with all the right keys in the wrong places. Now added.

Halfords sell them here. Yose sell them here. It's a standard Phylion/Joycube battery (SF03 IIRC - double check the case profile) used by thousands of e-bikes across Europe, so my guess is it'll likely be around for many years yet.

    Replacement battery

That may be because MiRider take a one-bot and change a lot of it, including motor/wheels, the electronics (KT controller/display) and use higher capacity cells in their battery... this latter may even be made to their own specification. If I were being cynical, I'd suggest it's in MiRiders own...

    GIN X

Altus is a step-up for a sub-£1000 e-bike, where Tourney would be the norm (although IIRC this bike was £999 yesterday and it's £1090 today. The brakes are Zoom branded if you look closely. IMHO it's very hard to see how that price would be sustainable: So many low-cost "brands" have come and...

Help! What COMPLETELY LEGAL Ebike will get me up hills?

Really? Are we really saying the OP needs to know all that to grasp the basic difference between the Estarli e20.7 and e20.8? The nm figure in Estarli's specification is a simpler, more easily digested comparative figure the layman might hope to grasp when comparing the two otherwise...

    Brake squeal

Like MS, I use the Shimano resin B01/03/05 compounds, having taken a set of sintered off one of my e-bikes because of some annoying squealing.

Help! What COMPLETELY LEGAL Ebike will get me up hills?

In this context the figure is quoted simply to convey the fact that the e20.8 model has more grunt than the near identical standard e20.7 model, in case that matters to the OP. KISS.

Help! What COMPLETELY LEGAL Ebike will get me up hills?

Woosh already has (at least had?) a Dutch-style hill slayer called the Rambla... with it's (350w... sorry, officially 250w) Bafang M400 TS mid-drive. Upping Current and changing Keep to 100% really slays the battery though (at least it does on my pre-M nomenclature MaxDrive version).

Help! What COMPLETELY LEGAL Ebike will get me up hills?

Was it you considering the Estarli e20? IIRC they claim 50Nm* torque achievable, which is pretty beefy for a compact 20kg foldable, and although the battery is a bit on the smaller side it's more than fine for what you need. Estarli are based/assembled in Bucks I think and have a select (small!)...

How do I fix my E-bike

As @saneagle said, you make sure the connector by the pedal is pushed firmly all the way in to the line, and check you haven't damaged that motor cable where it comes out from the rear wheel axle when you were fixing your tyre. If that all seems okay, you can trace the other end of that motor...
