R&M 'See and Be Seen' campaign

I agree, many of the sports cyclists I see around here not only have dark clothing but a dark bike too. Many seem to favour team colours, perhaps teams need to change their strips to bright/hi viz colours, maybe it'll become cool to wear them then.

    Pay attention at all times

I'm sure there would be as many with motorists dumb behaviour, but really, what ferkin numpties! I suppose that, eventually, they will genetically self select and we'll see the last of them.

Stealth 100W motor caput after 18 months

Trevor, the thing is that you have been offered a new motor which, if the control system is faulty as suspected, will not work anyway. The tests that have been suggested are simple, if you get a multimeter (cost 5-8 pounds) and, with the aid of photo's, you can be walked through these tests...

Cube Touring Hybrid 400 or a conversion?

With a self conversion there is the advatage of knowing the bike very well, and all components are sourceable and replaceable. Not so with a proprietry system (Bosch) on the cube. Hub motors take a lot of killing (mine has 7500 miles on it now) and minimal maintenance.

battery life seems fairly poor for me about 4000 miles

My Ezee battery is now four years old. 7500 miles on it, 309 charge cycles (I keep a diary) and all of them partial. Charger supplied is 4Amp with a fan, often left on well past the green light coming on. As far as I know the battery is pouch cells. Laptop is an HP 8 years old and still on...

    Battery maintenance tips please

I would say, when at work, turn the battery off. It's possible that when on there is power to the controller, it would only use about 4-5 watts but is a constant drain of power that you may need to get that last mile to home.

    Advice on converting recumbent trike

Hi Catherine, I think you may struggle with a front hub on two counts. Firstly the 16" wheel doesn't leave much for spokes, I've got a feeling that 20" may be the smallest, could be wrong. Secondly, if you get one to fit, traction could be an issue, especially on hills with loose or slimey...

    get ready??

Did I hear right? Did he say that it's got a 60Kw charge rate, or is that just the battery capacity? Where I live several houses are fed from one pole transformer. Turn on a 6oKw charger and the whole neighbourhood's gonna go dim!

    Handlebar change

Phew! That took some time but it's done. Everything was on and off the bars more often than the UKIP leadership! (Camera's playing up at the mo, pics will follow). Bars are overall around 25-30mm wider, grip position relative to saddle, is in about the same place. Hands are angled in nicely...

    Batribike Alpha - derestrict speed

I think you need to look again. To do 16miles in one hour your average speed must be 16mph. Allowing for traffic lights, junctions, traffic queue's etc, this would mean doubling capability to at least 30mph. It's likely that the motor would hit magnetic saturation long before achieving the...

    get ready??

Interesting read, however I don't think there will be much growth, beyond those already cycling, until we get rid of this inherent "cycling's dangerous" thing.

    Electrify my cheap folding bike

+1 for thosw torque arms, I have two bikes with them on and they've never moved. Also they are highly adaptable, might take a while to puzzle it out but you can generally get them to fit to the lug.

First Post - Be Kind :-)

Given your dodgy knee, I thought I should mention some thing nobody else has yet. Most, if not all, commercially available mid drives are torque sense. Most hub drives are pas sense. The difference being that you have to put weight on the peddles, to get power, with a torque sense. With pas...

    Halfords launch e-bike with Alexa

Firm believer in KISS - keep it simple stupid! Alexa on a bike, what is the point? As hinted earlier, I think it's just a way of tying the owner into the brand for servicing etc. What happens if Alexa decides there's something wrong with the bike and turns it off? Think I'll just stick to...

    E-Bike storage?

I think you would be wasting your money and energy consumption. Today's forcast gives a humidity range of 82-95%. So, of course there will be a lot of water in the dehumidifier after a few hours running. But the shed is not hermetically sealed (ie it's draughty) so will only be slightly less...

    Handlebar change

Went to local (30 mile round trip) Halfrauds yesterday. Mechanic cut me some brake cable from his stock but couldn't help with gear cable. Their range of stock was woeful to non exixtent. Anyway, brake fitted and waiting gear cable from Evans. Strange they have stock Halfords don't ! Had a...
