KIA shows two electric bikes and a new manufacturing process

Especially if you need your vehicle back that day and it's £120 round trip in a taxi to go back & forth. It's called taking advantage and the dealers are all "at it". They only do it once to me and I will never deal with them again for sales or servicing. Amazingly, somehow I manage perfectly...

    Kalkhoff 2014 e-bikes

Those figures look spot on what I'd expect. Even with a 250W Impulse bike, riding 20-22mph on the flat in top gear and mixing in some long sharp climbs will knock the range down to about 24 miles before the voltage sag starts showing. d8veh and rippedupno1 are also very right about cycling at...

KIA shows two electric bikes and a new manufacturing process

I wouldn;t take any notice of Kia's so-called warranties. My dealer refused a warranty claim on a bonnet clip which seized up and froze the bonnet shut just in time for MOT at about aged 5, well below the 100k miles. They claimed it was on account of "incorrect maintenance" blaming me for not...

    Endeavour Impulse S11 Alfine

I think most people will in practice just take "indefinitely extended credit" for that lot .... ;)

    ebike horn

Those horns I linked are 112-114dB. The horn in my Kia is no louder and no bigger either (having looked under the bonnet !) ... and is similarly high tone. It's not an air-zound or an e-bike horn, it's a full-on vehicle horn.

    Riese & Muller Delite 2

I think it's likely that internal gearing on the Bosch that's responsible for the drag effect. Most unlikely to be much if anything to do with that hub. I'm glad you've come out and confirmed the benefit of the 14 gears, especially riding unpowered. I do think it's overkill for a bike that is...

    Kalkhoff 2014 e-bikes

A few things - if you use the full power assist potential of the bike as a speed-pedelec, you will be charging every day. 30 miles is fine at a 'push' for a charge going flat-out on not hideously hilly terrain but 60 miles - no way unless you do most of the work yourself. I think you may even...

    Endeavour Impulse S11 Alfine

One's new and the other's 15 years old souped-up conversion with an astronomic insurance cost :) Also the low-mileage Corsa will probably cost you a grand a year in garage bills (!) I'm comparing against going petrol-free for all your travelling needs. Basically where I was 18 months ago when...

    Very lightweight e-bikes

I agree in principle - that's why the Vivax was attractive, but the cost and maintenance are so disproportionate as to make the whole proposal a non-starter. The other crank drive solutions just seem far too rough and ready to be compatible with what one would be trying to achieve. I am still...

    Endeavour Impulse S11 Alfine

It'll be due to the power delivery combined with the hub gears. I've always thought even the lower powered version should have had a chain tensioner with the Alfine hub, but dealer of course INSISTS that's ridiculous and it's perfectly OK. Experience says otherwise.

I don't normally like flat pack, but....

That's what makes me giggle a bit about Haibike pricing ... there's little to excite me in all but the most expensive models and I can't help thinking you can do so much better for a commuter bike. If you're anything like me, you'll last a matter of weeks before craving a speed cut-out...

    Endeavour Impulse S11 Alfine

Spotted this on 50cycles website... I think if I was choosing a bike today to replace car this is the one I'd go for : http://www.50cycles.com/electric-bikes/endeavour-sport-fast/endeavour_impulse_s11_alfine.html Pretty much got it all. Much cheaper than some of the Bosch bikes in that...

    Xion drive motor drag.

It's a direct drive motor if I'm not mistaken ? When I tried one at NEC I immediately noticed the difference and decided I didn't like it. Go for an Impulse 2.0 :)

    ebike horn

? If you connect without requiring a step-down converter it is surely safer as you are running at standard battery voltage. The amps drawn will always be far lower than trying to run a horn a 12V. Cost difference I grant you.

    ebike horn

Can't you get one that'll run without a converter ? The current draw is not an issue then. This one is 36V http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DURITE-DISC-HORN-36-VOLT-36V-HIGH-TONE-91mm-DIAMETER-430Hz-STEEL-BODY-0-642-36-/300976656278 They come in 72V also ... maybe 48V too ...

    Amigafan2003 new build mk 2

There's a lot to be said for it as a material - and you can use it to help keep warm when you're finished with it, too ! Who'll ever be any the wiser as to what's underneath :D. All looking good.

Ping 48v 15Ah custom split pack

Interesting. I think with these Chinese batteries if you get a decent pack and aren't unlucky enough to get sent one with a QC issue they wind up being incredibly good value for money. They are a fraction of the cost/(notional) Ah of many European branded ones and if you 'overspec' on a higher...
