    Grease guns

I was just about to mention the opposite, how syringes are very good for giving small children medicine! ;) (but also great for applying grease).

Oh, that's a pity, we really are desperately short of parts suppliers in this country :(

    Alien - Gents Special

The ebay seller known as ecrazyman or keywin (search on EndlessSphere's forums or ask Knuckles on that forum), apparently sells Bafang motors to individuals. He can also source spare parts including metal versions of the nylon gears. One combination I did think would be good would be to use a...

Is that burning plastic I can smell?

Well I've tracked down my "battery on its last legs" problem on my Wisper.. It seems the fuse holder in my Lishen battery wasn't making good contact with the fuse (some sort of sealent gunk on the fuse and contacts). Naturally when the motor was under high load, this bad contact started to...

    Best E-Bikes - What make ?

Yes that does strike me as a potential slight problem with the fixed Panasonic programming, it doesn't cater for different pedalling styles so well. And quite why the speed sensor is derived from crank rotation &gear is a mystery, surely a tranditional wheel rotation sensor would be more...

    De-restricting e-bikes

Can't see that it'd be a problem! (Derestricting a bike affects its top speed, which actually is where the load on the motor and battery is very low. The load is usually greatest at LOW speeds, so theoretically if you are really loading the motor on rough off road tracks at very low speed...

I think liver is more likely;)

    Alien - Gents Special

That's a real pity on two counts. 1) The Special really did look like it might be quite a nice bike. 2) Alien has allways used bafangs in his kit before, and that's one of the key features that earns his kits a recommendation. If he's switched to inferior parts...

    De-restricting e-bikes

It may drain your battery a bit more, but it's unlikely to break it. My Wisper has a derestrict button, that's permanently pressed. No problems... actually I tell a lie, the Restriction has been made variable so I can restrict it right down to walking pace...

Have I ruined my Ezee Quando battery?

Have you tried looking at the Co-Pilot range? They attach to a standard rack (supplied with the seat), or would this not fit on your bike? (they start at £80 new, maybe £30-50 on fleabay) Baby seats are a bit of a problem with many e-bikes. One problem being that many baby seats attach via a...

Have I ruined my Ezee Quando battery?

Indeed, and there's also the depth of discharge effect as well. I like to compare it to people running marathons (or some other such analogy). If a given runner has a 26 mile range, and you make him run that full 26 miles every week, pretty soon his body is going to be kn*******d! If you only...

    alarmed!

How about a very high voltage applied to the bike frame so that anyone touching the exposed metal parts will emit a 100db scream! :D (I was actually thinking of a capacitive type sensor that would detect changes in the electric field of the bike  )

Somebody tried to steal my brake caliper.

Probably not kids where Mussels parks (the City). Most likely they were after any parts they could get to sell for a few quid. (good job they didn't go for the battery!)

    Conditioning battery

Roughly £500! Ouch. :( That's the falling pound I'm afraid! You should be able to use an alternative battery from somewhere else, but then you have no guarantees about quality & you'll have to figure out how to mount it to the bike & connect it up. Ping batteries come recommended by quite a...

    Electric Bike Kits

Yes, sounds like when you pedal it tries to engage the motor, which of course loads the battery, hence the lights go out. This maybe because the lights are faulty (i.e. showing the battery lower than it is) or more likely the battery is dead, or the connections between battery and controller...

    Conditioning battery

    1) Low voltage cutout (LVC)...... YES and NO. NO... the BMS on the Lishen battery does not have a discharge BMS (i.e. it only does its work when you are charging the battery), so it does not monitor the voltage on each cell during use to ensure it doesn't go below the safe voltage...
