I have ridden 1000's of miles on all manner of off road on N & S Downs with a rear hub 700c Boardman and the bike has been more then capable. In fact I prefered the drive to the BBS01 I had . With a hub chooses the correct hub and controller/ voltage system and they are happy as larry off road.

Sounds like the throttle wrongly connected may have caused conflict within the controller , disconnection and then correct reconnection resetting the status quo ?

Speed sensor is a sensor head (Hall type ) and spoke magnet, cheap to buy and easy to fit and wire in. Typically used if the hub motor has no internal Hall & magnet to register speed.

@ Fatgadget , some hubs have a face plate where it is obvious and have 6 visible screws. Others have a hidden screw joint (very finely threaded) which can be unscrewed using a (specail ) tool or a homemade tool. Your pic will help a lot as I don't think anyone as yet has posted a pic of the hub .

Show a pic of the drive side of the hubs, tools are needed to open them but these tools can often be easily fashioned . Opening hubs is just knowledge/know how rather then rocket science.

Disconnect any brake sensors and then check PAS. Apart from any other info not mentioned (however small or non descript) , I would be testing motor Halls and controller mosfets to rule them out.

Giant charger won't be cheap as battery is CANbus, the bike should come with a charger.

I one is 100% sure it is unfused (unlikely) , then desolder the positve feed wire inside and solder on one of those mini blade fuse holders in line .

One may find the fuse is inside the charger if the plug is unfused .

What is the kit controllers max current rating ? What is you exsisting battery's max continuous rating ?
