    In the markets.....

Both great bikes. The Tasman Classic will have nearly twice the range and a bit more power than the Macina Cross. The Tasman is a really classic looking bike that drew many admiring looks at the Bristol bike show a few weeks ago. Lovely colour and comfortable Brooks saddle. Macina is a more...

    Throttle cable splice

OK, thanks. I will join the 3 wires separately (I have some connectors to do this).

    Commute realistic?

I have a Wisper Alpino 705 (amongst many other bikes) and as others have confirmed 26 miles will be fine, even using highest assist level all the way.

    Throttle cable splice

Whilst unpacking a recent delivery of an bike with throttle my wife inadvertently cut through the throttle cable. I now need to rejoin the two ends. The outer cable has 3 small insulated wires within (red, white and black). The guy at Maplin said I could join the two cable ends together in a...

BH Neo Cross Electric bike Setting

Range is so dependent on weight, terrain and wind so it's infinitely variable. As a rough rule of thumb, 10Ah will cover 15-30 miles. It shouldn't be less and could be more. Obviously on the flat carrying a lightish load 50+ miles is possible.

50 Mile round trip commute, feasible or not?

It's the time more than anything. I have commuted 25 miles each way in the past but I didn't do it every day because I didn't always have the time. It won't take less than 90 minutes and that would be going some. That's also a long time if the weather isn't good. My commute now is much shorter...

    Kalkhoff Sahel Premium i360 Harmony

I agree with most of the above. I regularly ride the Sahel Compact with Big Apple tyres and find that it is just as good as bikes with suspension forks. In fact I prefer it (I also ride many other bikes most of which have suspension forks). From my brief experience of riding one, the tyres on...

    E -Bike Supplies Very Low?

I think this is the case with certain European made bikes.

Will I be OK with a 51cm Macina Cross frame?

Usual Agattu sizes are 45(or 46)cm = small and 50cm = medium. At 5'7" would normally recommend the small. I've never seen 49cm but perhaps this was available on older versions. So, chances are 51cm would be a bit on the large side. Do they do a smaller frame?

    Hi from Wales

You have two good bikes so no need to worry.

    Bike for long fastish commute

If you enjoy cycling, the Kalkhoff Pro Connect would be very suitable and manage 44 miles without recharging. Fastest average speeds are achieved in undulating terrain. The Endeavour Impulse S10 XT would be my pick of the 'not legal' bikes. The KTM E-Race P is also a nice bike. I think you would...

    Hi from Wales

They are both good bikes. It would be interesting to know if you tried lots of different bikes and what it was that made you pick these two? The most important thing is that you enjoy riding them and make the most of any good weather we have this summer.

    Torque or Speed Sensor

Some of these replies suggest that torque sensored bikes are always hard work. That is not true. If you ride in maximum assist level, a little effort goes a long way. The advantage is that it still feels natural and you are controlling it with your input. With PAS (to me at least) it always...

    Sales figures

I've seen a figure of 20,000 for 2012. This is what I usually quote.

    Advice, expertise and opinions needed.

That would be a shame, they were nice people who I met several times. I'll have a look next time I'm passing. Silas, please get in touch if you want to try some bikes locally. It is best to phone or email first to make sure one of us is available.

    Folding Bike for Pensioner

There are 3 ebike shops in Bristol where you could try a decent range of bikes. 50cycles, Atmosphere and The Electric Transport Shop. I don't know about any shops in Cardiff but other members might.

    Folding Bike for Pensioner

If you tell us where you live we might be able to suggest local places to try a few bikes out. It's always best to try a few out before coming to a decision.

    What do you think ?

Some of them are and some of them aren't. There is just as much variety in the world of ebikes as there is in non-assisted bikes. If you want to ride just like an ordinary bike and appreciate high quality components I would agree with D8ve, look for a used Kalkhoff /Bosch/Panasonic crank...
