Bike to suit me? - short, heavy and unconfident rider

Trex The most comfortable bike is a recumbent. But the position is new to most people and that puts them off. But once ridden they are superb road bikes(pants off road) Not recommended for a nervous newcomer. But great for the adventurous prepared to try other things

    Oxydrive on a road bike

You really need to test ride some bikes to get a feel for them. Lots of choice in Bristol to test. Come over and spend all day trying bikes. Unfortunately you need a very good bike to have a cycle feel and speed. Or whoosh to fit the budget. (The forums best budget buy)

    Oxydrive on a road bike

On a flat road with a good road bike I would expect you to be doing over 15 anyhow, so there would be no assist at that point. An illegal build with a small low power hub drive would give you a boost reducing effort for very similar top speed. d8veh is very knowledgable about this stuff. But...

    Hi from Warwickshire

Hi , With those bikes you sound like a serious peddler. It will be hard to get a legal bike that is worth the upgrade. The instant to 25 kph and holding speed up hill is nice but on the flat and down hill the electric adds almost nothing. If you hold anything like 15 mph average then you need a...

    Do you get the "nod"

Phill it's 17.4 mph. And top whack today of 45 mph. On six mile home run with 200 feet of climb. It could be faster when I get an electric bike again. Don't now the heart rate cycling but had an ECG with resting of 58 before I cycled home. :-0

VERY heavy & unfit lady. Which bike please?

The difference is not to important to you unless you are particularly fussy. Big bear is the standard advice for value and epicures. Get one and find your horizons open up( we hope) They do take the effort out of cycling. You should try as many bikes as possible. Then you can decide for yourself...
