    NuVinci CVT (Automatic Gears) Hub

Ah ! They are completely different types of purchases and completely different markets. I got the Kalkhoff as I wanted a bike that looked and felt special, was legal to ride in rest of EU (if I'd gone over there with it this year), had high quality components and finish, would hold value better...

    Which are you?

Neither - I wear enough reflective elements to catch a car's headlights, reflectaspokes on my wheels and use very good quality lights. That'll have to do. Expecting all cyclists wear a 'fruity uniform' of banana yellow or bright orange if they're out in public is taking things too far. This is...

    Wheel Size

It's strange - I actually prefer riding on the larger wheels and frame and ironically feel more stability and balance with heavy load on the road, but that's maybe down to geometry. I really never worked out why for sure. The XXL Agattu eBike for really heavy loading for example is a 28"...

    NuVinci CVT (Automatic Gears) Hub

Lol. No worries it all gets blooming confusing - too many bikes to keep track of ! It's this one :p Kalkhoff Sahel i360 NuVi Harmony 50cm HE 28" Comes in step-through also : 50cycles Products It has the i360 automatic shifters rather than the Revoshifter that you get on the Sahel...

    NuVinci CVT (Automatic Gears) Hub

I didn't try or see the 2013 Agattus at Eden - only tried the 2012 C8 & I have the C11. The C8 I tried last year at NEC had a Medium frame and was a 28", but the geometry wasn't as imposing as C11. The Sahel was noticeably more compact than the 2012 Agattus.

One law for the rich etc

Worth looking at driving ban insurance which gives you a chauffeur in the event of a totting up ban if points accumulated are significant. Staggered how many people don't know it's available. Makes a lot more sense than point swapping. Used to drive very significant mileage before car went...

    Ebco ucr60

Yes, Giant make decent bikes with decent frames. I looked at a few when searching for a donor bike to convert. So if Chris decides down the line to stick on a regular wheel, rip off the controller and torque sensor, and keep it as a regular bike, he'd be likely to have a nice enough bike to keep...

    Ordered my first Pedelec

Welcome - and thanks for the link to that document mentioned on your blog page http://www.eltis.org/docs/tools/GoPedelec-Manual-EN.pdf Very interesting reading. I was particularly interested in the mention of company Biketec renting batteries at 15 Euros / month. I think that is for Swiss...

    Puncture Resistant - Puncture Proof

... and not to be confused with CST motors which are an 8Fun production .... and nothing whatever to do with the tyres so far as I'm aware !

    Insurance

I looked into standlaone cycle insurance and figured on an expensive new bike I'd rather spend the money on better security, and also not leave the bike unattended more than 1/2 an hour. Got front pitlock, very chunky >Gold Secure Gold chain, closed shackle padlock etc. for when out with the...

Dealers offering loan bikes and pick up for warranty bikes

50 Cycles have called me and assured me that they did not intend for their approach to be construed the way it came across and have also undertaken one way or another to get this sorted. I am hoping now this will be the case. Nonetheless, I am going to get the bike looked at by LBS as gesture...

    Spring at last !

^^ Thanks d8veh. Once again really appreciate your offer. 50 Cycles have undertaken to get the matter resolved one way or another now so I'm going to give them a chance to do that and hope for the best for another week. Let's see.

Dealers offering loan bikes and pick up for warranty bikes

I may try this. 50 cycles have come up with an offer of a loan C8 and a collect / return however with a threat that I will pay £100 if a manufacturer's fault not found. I will pay my bike shop to get an independent opinion on whether the frame is faulty. Have thrown enough money already at this...

Dealers offering loan bikes and pick up for warranty bikes

^ Basically yes. Bike total mileage 533. Kept insisting it was down to my not tightening the nuts enough but this is simply not the case. It isn't possible to tighten them any more with a ratchet spanner and if I did somehow manage it with a long-leveraged tool it would probably do damage plus...

    Spring at last !

Was lovely riding conditions today. Reset my chain, tuned my bike this morning and did 10 miles less glamorously out to B&Q and back ... but there were some nice paths round the back of the store with the wood anemones out under the trees which made for a delightful detour. Bike was happily back...

One law for the rich etc

^^ This. British "justice" is not proportionate in many areas. Mind you, to put into perspective a little known fact is that over 4,500 cyclists in Poland were jailed last year for riding their bicycles whilst over the alcohol limit - which is the same as for cars. Their limit is 0.02% as...

Invitation to all E bikers - why not have a go 23 June

My local village would likely be only too happy to stage such an event on one of our local fields actually - provided the patrons of the local boozer and our local resident copper could have a go on them themselves after a few pints as part of the deal. Ah ... I'm seriously looking forward to...

    NuVinci CVT (Automatic Gears) Hub

I looked at that Xion on the website out of curiosity, but the regen put me off and the aspect of the Storck so often moaned about (auto-braking effect on downhills at speed) seems to be an issue with this system too. The Agattu C11 is a really imposing bike especially in a step-through - not...
