    Carrying stuff / Panniers

^^ down to £65 with current £15 off promotion @ Halfords plus you can get quidco cashback too I think. I use this too on both bikes (version with the slide-on MTX rack which is very solid) and it's a great bag. Really well made.

Crank drive comparisons - Impulse .v. Bosch .v. Panasonic

^^ controller current turned down over test range is the most likely explanation. Up it and the speed will shoot up if the battery is high discharge, but so will the consumption. Has anyone derestricted these yet and actually tried them to see if they are geared for it ? W.r.t. speed, I think...

    Handle Bar Bags???

Aah ... that doesn't sound promising. This is the one which the Carradice bag uses : Rixen Kaul Klickfix Handlebar Fitting Adaptor If you've already tried that one and it doesn't clear I won't bother measuring it !

    Handle Bar Bags???

They use a standard Rixen Kaul click-fix mount for which you can get a 31.8mm adaptor for a couple of quid. I actually modified one of these mounts for my big front headlight so can measure it if you like. Needed it to clear my centre-mounted Cycle Analyst.

Range experiences from Lithium Batteries with high power motors ?

18mph on the flat is relatively undemanding for that motor. It's when you hit 22-23mph that consumption will rocket.

    Handle Bar Bags???

Have you tried the Carradice ones like this one ? Wiggle | Carradice Super C Klickfix Bar Bag | Handlebar Bags There's also a waterproof Carradry one I think.

Two questions re spokes (one specific and one general)

Catsnapper can likely do you some spokes locally ?

Ramblings on the many bikes i have tested recently.

Very interesting. If the C11 is still available and you can reconfig the assist to give you the extra speed then go for it. The VFM is bonkers and it's a much better equipped bike than the i8 - the extra gears make a huge difference if you ride it on enhanced assistance with 9-11 in use the...

Another battery question-please can you help?

The Netherlands is only one country out of the whole of the EU - Germany making it 2 with possible wider experience for slightly different reasons and they have their own 'S Pedelec' laws which open up at least some flexibility there no doubt enjoyed by those in the hills. Holland in particular...

Another battery question-please can you help?

Just had an interesting gander at the Optibike website for the 1st time - following on from my earlier protestations about the very small batteries offered by BionX and European suppliers it's interesting to look at the ones used on these US bikes ...

    Bosch vs Impulse (again)

It's far nippier too - but uses a bit more power. Not everyone wants or needs that (e.g. the Dutch market or those who live in the fens (!) ) so you can set the controller profile to behave differently depending on your bike usage. Bit like having 3 different options with 1 product .. it's...

    Bosch vs Impulse (again)

The 2013 Impulse can be configured at the controller in 3 different modes. This is entirely separate from the power assist levels you choose via the LCD. You need to set the system at the controller to 'Sport' mode via the dealer device to get the superior hill climbing performance - so if...

    Advice - Adding a booster battery ?

... even has dimensions on that one . You could always ask Frank @ Xipi if he'd sell you a battery ... I think most of his are 48V and they get used for backpack versions so must be available separately from the cubes.

    Advice - Adding a booster battery ?

^^ getting the complete battery instead sounds very sensible to me if you can flog the 1st kit. Be interested to see how the CST motor performs at 48V and the range you get off it. If you're going to keep going with the eBiking, why not get a Cycle Analyst - it really is a very...

    Advice - Adding a booster battery ?

The controller is 30A not 20A. ^^ Think he's already got about that speed but is looking for 30+mph assisted without losing the oomph of the 500W motor already fitted....

Another battery question-please can you help?

^^ I think the assumption our European neighbours are particularly bothered about enforcement of eBike performance limitations / lack of throttles is a little off the mark. Perhaps there might be the odd purge here & there .. and maybe specifically in Germany / Holland where in the former...

    Kalkhoff's shameful documentation

^^ It's a bit like modern chainsaw manuals ... most of the new ones sweep up a load of servicing issues into "contact your dealer" ! It's the modern way it seems... progress equates to generating an ongoing revenue stream for the service industry

Another battery question-please can you help?

You would certainly hope so ... but ... as we've seen with luxury cars like Mercedes, Audi etc. you don't always get what you pay for in terms of component quality/actual delivered spec. The days of longevity and reliability being the watchwords of design are long gone in favour of obsolescence...

Possibly. Very difficult to say with any certainty though, presumably. Any ideas on the BionX as above ?

Another battery question-please can you help?

flecc - OK thank you - your (Edit:- 2nd to last) post finally provides some real insight. I think it would be extremely useful for manufacturers to provide figures for bikes in full power use in moderate terrain as well as these notional "ideal conditions" figures in Eco mode, which have next to...
